Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books. Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Last summer, Mackenzie Bishop, a Keeper tasked with stopping violent Histories from escaping the Archive, almost lost her life to one. Now, as she starts her junior year at Hyde School, she's struggling to get her life back. But moving on isn't easy -- not when her dreams are haunted by what happened. And unless Mac can track down the real culprit, she'll lose everything, not only her role as Keeper, but her memories, and even her life. I've started this early today, I'm still in the very beginning (5%), so I don't know yet where it's going, but so far so good.

I couldn't wait to read City of Heavenly Fire so it's got me a bit behind but I'll start this tomorrow

Ch 1-8
(view spoiler)[ The first quarter has brought some surprises and opens a bunch of questions for me. I was surprised to find Wesley attending Hyde with her and really liked the little fight scene in Wellness class. I also enjoy the banter with Cash and hope she develops a friendship with him - but hope we don't get another little love triangle here. I want her to have her happy ending with Wesley dang it. I'm curious if the lack of sleep is the only thing causing her blackouts, and also how much Patrick knows about her sleep troubles with his "sleep tight" comment as she left the archives. I still really like Roland and love that he's working to get her some rest. I wonder, too, if there is more to her dreams than just trauma. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Really curious why Eric is following her. I feel like this theory that he is setting her up is too obvious. Also, Is Owen still there? ch 16 ended with him cutting her in her dream and her coming back to and having actually cut herself so I wonder if he's still there or if she's legit losing her mind. (view spoiler)[ Pretty decent follow up to the first book. I wish Mac hadn't been so stubborn and refused to let anyone help - Wes or the Archive - but I also get her fear that they wouldn't trust her and her concern that she was still imagining Owen. Definitely felt like the ending left it open for more and saw there is a planned third just no info on when or plot. Going to read the quick short story from Wesley's POV tonight as well - heard it is adorable. (hide spoiler)]

As for the third book Schwab did a tease on Instagram about what she was doing during quarantine, and boom 3 of this series was on there with a ? So maybe if we are lucky it is being worked on right now. Lol (hide spoiler)]

Yeah it was him. That part made me sad. Even though I didn’t care for his partner my heart broke at her seeing that happen.
