LenaRibka | 112 comments I don't know if Marshall Thornton is a great cooker and can share his best receipts. I am not against such kind of thread. But I know for sure, that he has a good taste in books and maybe he'd like to share it with us.

LenaRibka | 112 comments I'm starting right now MY FIRST book of Joseph Hansen. And please, make it be good!. I put aside at least 10 books and need right now a really really good fiction, otherwise I'll run amok. Cheers!

Wait, what? Food recipes?

message 4: by LenaRibka (new)

LenaRibka | 112 comments a lot of writers do it in their groups! :) Are you interesting in something like this? What is about the recipes of Mrs. Harker?;)

That might be cool. I hadn't thought of that. Good idea, Lena! Maybe we could all eat pickle soup or something. I had a Polish neighbor who made that and it was surprisingly good. No idea if it was polish - oh wait! I'm confusing Nick's family & Mrs Harker! Where is she from?

message 6: by Rosa, really (new)

Rosa, really (ebausten) | 162 comments Also, didn't Nick eat a fancy Brie sandwich at one point? Not that I can eat it, but man, that sounds gooooood!

message 8: by LenaRibka (new)

LenaRibka | 112 comments We should ask Marshall, he must have had some real recipes on mind as he wrote it!

Rosa, really (ebausten) | 162 comments Ok, right. I'm listening to Murder Book, but SOME PEOPLE keep INTERRUPTING ME. Actually, I'm going to switch to reading it. I read faster than I listen.

message 10: by LenaRibka (new)

Did a search for Czech food. Pierogies come up. LOVE THEM. Anything involving a potato I really love.

Okay, I totally misunderstood then. If you wan to add books to the bookshelf, I added a shelf called "what to read after Boystown." It's the books Thornton rec'd and some of his five star reads.

Boystown ..."

That would be cool, if they did that. Especially HBO, they don't hold NOTHING back. ;) Some other network made the Donald Strachey series into a show. So it could be done!

No, I haven't. Oh, actually they're made for TV movies, not a series. I just looked it up. They have them on netflix though.

TV series? Just Queer as Folk, etc. Oh and then 6 Feet Under is really good, but it's not "MM."

HBO's "Looking" is really good, too. Marshall Thornton mentioned "The Normal Heart" movie in that interview. Have you guys seen it? If not, I recommend it, great movie.

I googled it after I came across the title! I have never heard about it, of course I have to see it.

I've never heard of Looking! I'd like to see this episode: Patrick goes on a date with Richie but Patrick, having wrongly assumed that Richie is uncut, comes off as too promiscuous and makes a bad impression. I don't think that ever happened on an episode on Sex and the City. Niiiice.

I really enjoyed Looking. A lot of people had trouble with it since it has a slow build but I thought that was interesting. It's by the guy who did the movie Weekend - which is also really great.

We don't have it in Germany yet. I had to google again! :(

message 37: by Otila (new)

Otila | 37 comments I heard that, about people finding Looking too slow, but I really liked getting to know the characters. My favorite episode was the one where Patrick and Richie go on an all day date and it's just them the whole episode talking and getting to know each other. I'm really looking forward to the next season.

I've never seen Weekend but they have it Netflix so I can remedy that real soon. :)

It's like having flashbacks to Nam. Except, perhaps, slightly less serious. And Weekend is on streaming! It's even more lazier!

Otila, how does Patrick assuming Richie is uncut make him seem slutty? Looking isn't on Netflix yet, and now the possibilities are playing endlessly in my head. I need help.

message 45: by Otila (new)

Otila | 37 comments I loved QAF too. Both the American and the British version.

There's a show on Netflix called DTLA, haven't watched it but it looks good.

Otila | 37 comments Rosa, really wrote: "Otila, how does Patrick assuming Richie is uncut make him seem slutty? Looking isn't on Netflix yet, and now the possibilities are playing endlessly in my head. I need help. ."

Patrick's friends are teasing him about going out with Richie, cuz they figure since Richie is Mexican he's probably uncut and Patrick's never been with anyone uncut before. Patrick is this really awkward and kinda naive guy always saying the wrong thing so when they're about to have sex Patrick starts babbling about Richie probably being uncut and makes it seem like that's the only reason he wanted to go out with him.

We have a paid TV and even there we don't have yet any gay series ;(
I'm so eager to see one of them, hope it will be more in the future!
