Judging an Historical Fiction book by its cover - part 2

Hi Roy,It looks as if the cover is for a book in the paranormal genre. Moses with an ectoplasmic filofax? Would this be a good fit for the story?
H.E.
Roy, I like the cover for the first one, but if the green one is a sequel, it's not working. I could see the image of the journal working in the same framing and color scheme with the same font as the original. Is that possible?
Thanks everyone, I think you are confirming my fears that the cover is not a good fit for my novel. I'll get some more work done and repost here when its done.Bonnye - just send you a PM re' the beta read
There is a paranormal feel to the first cover. I like the image with the ship but I would remove the framing and add some aging filters to the image.
Thanks N.J.The paranormal aspect was also what worried me about the cover. I was unsuccessful in getting the artist to substantially alter their work (unfortunately I had paid up front).
I('ve tweaked the work myself now that I have the PSD file and have engaged a second artist who hand draws covers to produce an alternative. Once I have this second offering I'll post again here to ask people's opinions.
ps - I liked your cover on "Calm Before The Storm"
I'd also like to thank Bonnye for the beta read and excellent feedback.

I've just received the new cover back from the artist and am worried that its not a good fit for an historical fiction novel. I've uploaded the cover here:

I'd love some feedback on reader's reaction to this new cover.
I'm also still looking for Beta readers for this new work - see my post in the Beta section:
