I've requested this from my local library. Hopefully I will finish 1984 before it arrives. I don't know much about this, only what a few BookTubers have mentioned. I like going in to books knowing little to nothing about them.

I've just started this book today and OMG it's hard to put down! The writing style is really good and each chapter leaves you needing to read on. I can't wait for a day off work so I can spend it with this book :)

I completely agree, Jen! Out of curiosity I picked it up while I had 30 minutes free before my work day started and...I wish I hadn't, only because it was SO addictive. I'll be picking it up again, here soon, after I eat lunch.

I can't remember if we are allowed to discuss the book as we go, as long as we keep spoilers hidden? I just really want to discuss this book with someone but I don't want to break any rules.

I think as long as it's spoiler free it's fine =) Just obviously people read this thread even if they haven't read the book yet

I've just finished the book at record speed, I just couldn't stop reading it! I loved the writing style and really felt connected to the characters. I thought the feeling of predictability in the story was intended and actually added to it.
Overall I'd definitely recommend this one and I intend to read more by Patrick Ness in the near future :)

I always find it interesting when two readers see the same thing in two completely different ways. Once I realized the predictability I was a little annoyed, skipped ahead, realized I was correct in my assumptions, and promptly put down the book. I don't think I will be picking it back up. This is unfortunate as I was really enjoying the story and the writing.

As I read deeper into the story, I felt a mild case of deja vu. While I couldn't put my finger on it exactly, it was almost like I'd read this story before (not this exact book, but a similar story about people in the afterlife). And, then it hit me. More Than This reminds me of "Kneller's Happy Campers" by Etgar Keret. It is a short story about this exact topic in his collection of short stories The Bus Driver Who Wanted to Be God and Other Stories. I decided to go back to that collection because I haven't read it since college. I forgot how much I enjoyed all of the stories in that collection.

I'm so happy that I didn't have that comparison having not read The Bus Driver but I know what you mean. I found myself comparing Rebecca to Jane Eyre and The Haunting of Hill House as they all had a sense of overwhelming atmosphere.

That's just the thing, Jen. I did really enjoy what I read. I just knew I wouldn't enjoy it after having made that connection. Quitting on a good note. I would definitely like to read more by Patrick Ness. His writing is beautiful. I want to read The Crane Wife later this year.

I want to read The Crane Wife too, also the Chaos Walking trilogy :)

I've read The Chaos Walking trilogy and it is one of my favourite YA dystopian series. Also I read The Crane Wife a few days ago and it was such an interesting read! It's an odd book but I really enjoyed it =)
