And idea that harsh situations can scar and damage a child's life. well ,I don't think this book could have started of any better than it does on this topic. It starts of with Jace, Basically, being dared to jump off a cliff into a quarry. In doing this He witnessed a brutal murder take place right above him."Jace saw the man's head jerk in response to the fast motion with the blade"(12) ,this hooked me in and made me want to read more. His further testimony against the blackwell brothers locke's their sights on killing jace to protect themselves. Then we learn that ethan, with his many years of military experience, is running a outdoors "witness protection program" up in the countrysides of montana. Jace given a false name, joins this program and is in finding the struggles of keeping his secret a secret. the secret that at any moment he could be caught, captured, and or murdered."he kept his head down and counted the drops of blood as they appeared on his boots, and with each fresh drop he reminded himself of his new name. Connor. Connor. I am connor, and i am bleeding, I am connor"(60) Those who wish jace dead are not only out for blood but cover up their misdoing ready and eager to kill anyone who stands in their way.
