The stakes are high for the kids in this section of the book. They're taking huge risks which probably means more important characters will die. I was pleased that Mike told his priest and friend Father Cavanah about the supernatural incidents happening in the town. This is an important first step. Of course though, the soldier thing had to attack Father C and infect him (302). I'm sure this will mean the friendly priest will become one of the possessed and will eventually die which is quite sad as once again he was a favorite character. But it's an important event in that it forces the boys to finally have to team up, reveal what they know about what's going on and work together to defeat the entity threatening the town. The sheer number of supernatural agencies working against them is now turning a bit daunting and over-the-top with the addition of the giant worms tunneling towards one of the boys (340). A haunted killer truck, a demonic bell, a possessed priest, a psychotic WW I soldier and now giant worms. I don't think I could ever convince people to read this book with a weird list like that. The thing is though that all together they work for a fast paced surprising story line. I just hope the loose ends are tied up in a way that doesn't make them ridiculous as sometimes Stephen King does in his works.
