1. What are you reading this week?Lemon Tart by Josi S. Kilpack. I decided to use the February Book of the Month to fulfill this category because I had a hard time finding a book.
2. Do you prefer mysteries or thrillers? Why?
I have more experience with mysteries, mainly because of my love for Nancy Drew. I haven't read many thrillers, so I'm very biased, but I enjoy how mysteries make you think. I like trying to put the clues together.
3. Clue(do) game: pick a character, a place and a "weapon" and complete the sentence:
(Name) in the (Place) with the (Weapon).
Carrie in the basement with the curtain tie.
4. How was the book?
It wasn't as great as I was hoping it would be. Aside from finding grammatical errors that most authors should know to avoid, I found Sadie's personality aggravating. She came off as very self righteous a lot of the time. She carried this attitude of, "Because I'm the guardian of our cul-de-sac I have the right to investigate Anne's murder," which is far off base. Detective Madsen's involvement really felt like it didn't fit. It felt like it was thrown in there for another twist in the plot when it really wasn't needed.
1. What are you reading this week?•Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hanna Swensen Mystery Series #1) by Joanne Fluke
2. Do you prefer mysteries or thrillers? Why?
•Mysteries, I like to solve things but I don't want to be scared to go to sleep at night!
3. Clue(do) game: pick a character, a place and a "weapon" and complete the sentence: (Name) in the (Place) with the (Weapon).
•Rich wife behind the cookie shop with the gun!
4. How was the book?
•I loved it! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
1. What are you reading this week?If I Run by Terri Blackstock
2. Do you prefer mysteries or thrillers? Why?
I prefer mysteries. I like trying to solve things. Though I don't mind some suspense, as long as it is not horror.
3. Clue(do) game: pick a character, a place and a "weapon" and complete the sentence:
(Name) in the (Place) with the (Weapon).
Crooked Cop in the livingroom with the crowbar.
4. How was the book?
This book was very suspenseful and I sometimes had a hard time putting it down. I really enjoyed it. The story is to be continued in the sequel, and it will be hard to wait to read more. My library has book 2 (If I'm Found) on order, but not in stock yet.
- What are you reading this week?Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew'd by Alan Bradley
- Do you prefer mysteries or thrillers? Why?
Usually mysteries. Thrillers are too often written with a lot of violent and 'edgy' content, while there a lot of cozy mysteries I can read that don't have objectionable material in them.
- Clue(do) game: pick a character, a place and a "weapon" and complete the sentence:
No one in the bedroom with the back stretcher.
- How was the book?
OK. This is the latest in the Flavia De Luce series. This was not my favorite in the series. The other Flavia books had very good mysteries, but the mystery in this book seemed to take a back seat to the musings of Flavia on her life. I hope the next book has a more solid mystery component.
-What are you reading this week?Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke
- Do you prefer mysteries or thrillers? Why?
Mysteries, I guess, although neither are really my favorite. When I do get in the mood to read a mystery, I usually turn to Nero Wolfe.
- Clue(do) game: pick a character, a place and a "weapon" and complete the sentence:
(Name) in the (Place) with the (Weapon).
Moishe in the living room with the $50 crystal bowl!
- How was the book?
It was cute, and a quick read, but I still don't really like culinary mysteries.
- What are you reading this week?
I'll find you by Clair M. Poulson
- Do you prefer mysteries or thrillers? Why? I love both. love the suspense and edge of your seat reading, wondering what will happen next
- How was the book?
It's really good so far, only about 1/3 of the way through it

What are you reading this week? I read Protocol One by Nathan A. Goodman- Do you prefer mysteries or thrillers? Why? I like mysteries, even better when I can't figure out who did it before the end. I like to try to solve the case. This book was more of a thriller though.
- Clue(do) game: pick a character, a place and a "weapon" and complete the sentence:
(Name) in the (Place) with the (Weapon). Janna in the kitchen with the usb memory stick!
- How was the book? It was the first in a series but I don't think I will be reading anymore of them. I liked the book ok but I thought the character development was a little week and I am not much for terrorist attack plots.

The vanished lady by Vickie Britton and Loretta Jackson. I don't usually read either mysteries or thrillers, so rare for me to read it. There were 2 murders in different eras in this book. The book was good but wouldn't read it again. The killer wasn't who I thought it would be, so was surprised.
SamZ wrote: "To help keep you on your toes, pick a book that has a bit of suspense, mystery, or danger. The book doesn't specifically have to be from the mystery genre, just find one that gets your heart pumpin..."I just finished this week's book, Less Than A Treason, by Dana Stabenow. I enjoy and prefer reading psychological suspense, mystery, and thrillers. This book is the 21st (wow!) in a series by the Alaskan native. I, however, was disappointed with it. The book description and summary was confusing with the way the story initially progresses. Over 20 characters are referred to in the first few chapters, making it a book designed for the readers of the first 20 books in the series. It was very confusing and out of place. The main plot described in the summary didn't really come to any initiation until after page 50 or so of the book. The main character (investigator) is missing through the first 50 or so pages as well. The plot doesn't pick up until well into the book, and the mystery is secondhand to the characters' lives, dialogue, and raucous humor. There was a lot of the F word and descriptions of sex, so avoid it if that imagery and language bothers you. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
