- What are you reading this week?Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman
- What is the genre of the book?
Contemporary Fiction
- Why did you choose this one?
I recently read A Man Called Ove by the same author and I LOVED it, so I thought I'd give another book a try.
- How was the book?
It was good, but not my favorite. Both books had a bunch of swearing, so I wish that weren't there, but it did seem to fit the characters that used it.
1. What are you reading this week?Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
2. What is the genre of the book?
Historical YA fiction.
3. Why did you choose this one?
I've heard a lot of really great things about this book. When I was browsing my local library a few weeks ago I saw it on the shelf and decided to check it out.
4. How was the book?
Oh my heavens. This book is heartbreaking and hopeful. After reading three books in a row that were definitely "meh," Between Shades of Gray was a wonderful breath of fresh air. I was also intrigued by the subject matter. It's about when the Soviet Union occupied the Baltic states and deported a ton of people. I never remember learning about that in school, so it was a really big eye opener to me. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in history.
Thank you for recommending this book! I served a mission in the Baltic and have read many books on the Holocaust and what happened to the Jewish population there but never knew there was a book in English about the Soviet occupation. Another book you might enjoy that is harder to find but an eye opener is Empire of the Absurd by an Estonia author telling about living under the absurdity of commumism.
- What are you reading this week?Shoe Dog: a Memoir by the Creator of NIKE by Phil Knight
- What is the genre of the book?
Memoir
- Why did you choose this one?
I enjoy memoirs and this one caught my eye because it has great reviews on GoodReads and Bill Gates included it in a list of best books he read in 2016. I also liked the title :)
- How was the book?
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was fascinated learning about how NIKE began and the struggles that went into creating a global powerhouse athletic shoe company. Phil Knight discusses the good decisions he made and some bad ones. If you decide to read this book, know that it has some cursing, including some F bombs but not what I would consider heavy language. I would normally stop reading a book when the F word appears, but I did finish this book and I would recommend it to others with the caveat about language.
- What are you reading this week? Holes by Louis Sachar- What is the genre of the book? Young Adult Newbery Winner
- Why did you choose this one? I teach school and my class did a challenge with newborn book winners. I read this book out loud to my students. They really enjoyed it.
- How was the book? It was a very cute story. It has also been made into a movie and the movie followed the book really well.

A bride worth taking by Rebecca Connolly. Historical fiction romance. I picked this one as was just released and loved the series so it was the obvious choice - read it months ago. Loved it as with the rest of the series.

- What is the genre of the book?
It is Historical Fiction/Regency Romance/Christian/Mystery

I have read all the retold fairy tales by this author and really enjoyed them. I was sure I would enjoy this one as well.
- How was the book?
It was really good. It captured my attention and I didn't want to stop reading.
