Gretchen (eab2012) | 255 comments I started Cleopatra's Shadows yesterday. I should have started it before my break from work ended. I guess I will just have to fall asleep at my desk after I stay up all night reading.

This looks good! Added it to my list.

Patricia | 158 comments I'm reading The Dry right now and have White Nights on overdrive as well. I don't know how books I put on hold--weeks apart--manage to come in at almost the same time!

I know! It happens to me all the time.

Patricia | 158 comments Just starting a "non-historical" mystery Inherit the Bones by a new author. And, yesterday I received in the mail a goodreads win The Patriots. Historical fiction that takes place in Russia in the 1930's. Looking forward to that one.

Gretchen (eab2012) | 255 comments What was suppose to be a summer of catching up on my TBR has quickly eroded into the summer of maybe I'll read three books in three months.

Right now I'm reading The Princess Diarist. It's a shame Carrie Fisher is no longer around to give us all the gift of her wit.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 697 comments I just finished the second book in Stephen King's Dark Tower series, The Drawing of the Three, and now I've started Tigana. I'm also re-listening to Johannes Cabal the Necromancer on audiobook.

Are you enjoying the Dark Tower, Veronica? I've seen mixed reviews about the film. Any plans on going to see it?

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 697 comments I am enjoying the books, Lauren. I had planned to see the movie but then I heard that it was based on all the books, that they'd taken elements from the entire seven book series. But the movie is only 90 minutes! That seems too short to me so I'm leery of watching the movie now.

Apparently though there are plans to also develop this into a tv show, which I think would be the better format in which to tell this story. More info about that here. As of right now, I think I'll probably wait until I've read all the books before seeing the movie on dvd. SInce it seems that the books tell the better story (not a surprise) I don't want the movie to spoil anything for me. I haven't even watched the movie trailers.

Makes sense. I'd be more likely to watch a TV series that covers that many books.
