Ilyon Chronicles discussion

This is where you can discuss the main character of Ilyon Chronicles--Jace, the tortured, half-ryrik, former gladiator who everyone just wants to give a big hug. Since I'm an author and not a mother, I can play favorites and say I love Jace more than any other character I've written so far. He has a very special place in my heart. What about you? What draws you to Jace? Feel free to ask questions!

Although Kyrin is a close second, my favorite character is Jace. His vulnerability and hiding himself really draw me to him. Part of me is very much like him and I think that also helps draw me to him. And that's all I've got right now. Now I want to read the book again so I can read about Jace more. :D

*gives Jace an imaginary crushing hug* I'm so happy everyone is loving him so much. I always knew I loved him, but you really never know how others will see or accept him.

Jace: *shies away from the hug* What do you think you're doing, Jaye?

Jace is so mysterious... I would love to know his past. Do you know what it is J

Jace is definitely my favorite character :D I agree with Emily, there is so much that we don't know about him! I love his character so much... Though I'm wondering if it mostly out of compassion. I have a soft heart for characters who are down in the dumps. I just want to see him happy :)

Katie, I'm developing a real love for working with really broken characters. Their stories can be really powerful to tell. I love the potential. I can't wait until everyone can see how Jace grows as the series progresses. There is a LOT in store for him.

I can't wait to find out about Jace's past. I really do like him. I'm kind of awkward around guys, but if I met Jace, I would probably want to give him a hug, too. He needs it.

I can't wait to share his past. The suspense of waiting is even killing me! ;) Maybe if I can get these last two and half books finished, I can get them published faster. So much to do!

Jace...his isolation is confirmation of his desperation for healing hugs. :)

So ... he's a bit of a fixer-upper ...

So he's got a few flaws. But the way to fix up this fixer upper is to fix him up with Kyrin.

The real question is "is Kyrin more like Anna or Elsa?" I can't really see her wanting to build a snowman. But does she need to let it go?

Kyrin--"Would you like read a story? I never see you anymore, come out the door, it's like you've gone away! We used to be best buddies, and now we're not! I wish you would tell me why!!! Would you like to read a story?"

I think she'd be a blend of Elsa and Anna, with a dash of Mulan thrown in for good measure.

Ahem. I love Jace. My sister can vouch for this because stuff about Jace is about all that's coming out of my mouth to her, because JACE. He. Is. Awesome. AND HE HAS A BLACK WOLF. Best. Ever.

Jace's past: Mostly I'm just curious about his parents. Like he's half ryrik but was it his mom or dad? Were they nice? Are they still alive? That sort of stuff.

If you create a character to top him the wold would explode. Not possible. And that's a good thing.

No, no, Jace isn't the Ring. I just loves him dearly. ;) Why that translates into having horrible things happen to him, I don't know. O_o I guess it's one of those weird writer things.
