Patricia | 2317 comments Hello from Heaven: A New Field of Research-After-Death Communication Confirms That Life and Love Are Eternal

by Bill Guggenheim (Goodreads Author), Judy Guggenheim

This is an interesting book. It is spiritual yet scientific, sad yet happy. I enjoyed listening to the accounts and the variety of experiences.

Patricia | 2317 comments Curious Minds (Knight and Moon #1)
by Janet Evanovich (Goodreads Author), Phoef Sutton (Goodreads Author)

This is a new series by Janet Evanovich and a quick fast paced read. I love that she always has such bizarre characters and crazy antics in her stories. Her characters are so vivid and yes, they do have some similarities to past characters but with a twist.

I have this one from NetGalley.

Patricia | 2317 comments The Last Summer of the Camperdowns by Elizabeth Kelly

This is a beautifully written book. The author Elizabeth Kelly writes sentences that you want to read over and over again. This is an interesting story that you have a sense of 'who done it' but the why and how are slowly revealed.

Patricia | 2317 comments A Deadly Grind (Vintage Kitchen Mystery #1)
by Victoria Hamilton

This is a 'cozy' mystery with the people in a small town featured as much for their relationship with each other as well as the murder to be solved. I explored some of the antiques that they described in the story.

Patricia | 2317 comments 9. Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology
by Leah Remini (Goodreads Author), Rebecca Paley

Leah Remini as an actress has always intrigued me. I was curious to see if there were some part of the strong characters she had played in her personally. I was not disappointed. I read this book in a day it was that kind of page turner.

Patricia | 2317 comments Wallflower in Bloom by Claire Cook

What happens if your feel that you are not living your life but you have been defined by your position in your family? You sign up for Dancing with the Stars. This was a fun book and a fast read. Love some of the characters including Fred and Ginger.

Patricia | 2317 comments Parlor Games by Maryka Biaggio

This was an interesting novel that I nearly abandoned because to me it was implausible. When I read reviews on Goodreads I realized that it was based on a real woman, May Dugas. It is told from her point of view but it is amazing that this one woman would be able to endear herself with so many people all over the world to be able to con them.

Patricia | 2317 comments .A Few of the Girls: Stories
by Maeve Binchy

I love Maeve Binchy! This book published after her death has a mix of stories with a couple of them feeling a little unfinished. I am delighted that the stories were shared but if you had not the pleasure of reading Maeve Binchy before start with another book by her to see how brilliantly she was able to weave a story.

Patricia | 2317 comments A Gate at the Stairs
by Lorrie Moore

I was left dissatisfied with this story. It brings us so many very interesting topics but then never brings one of them to some sort of conclusion. There is a story of adoption failed, racial questions, America after 9/11, a Muslim lover who masquerades at first as Brasilian, War, infidelity in marriage. etc. The writer can make you feel for the characters but then drops them without a feeling of completion.

Patricia | 2317 comments An Irish Country Doctor (Irish Country #1)
by Patrick Taylor

I loved this book about a young doctor and the Irish town that he is thinking of settling in. The characters are well drawn and I love a good story that has a happy ending. I want to visit this town again soon!

Patricia | 2317 comments All Over Creation
by Ruth Ozeki

Can you enjoy a book and HATE the main character. This book has so much going for it. The information about chemicals and genetic engineering and the new farmer is interesting. The best friend Cass who is a rock throughout the book is such a warm generous person. The band of environmentalists adds both content and color to the storyline. The main character Yumi is a self-centered, self-destructive, grudge holding woman who I just despised

Patricia | 2317 comments You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth
by Jen Sincero (Goodreads Author)

Jen Sincero's style of writing makes it easy to read and I finished the book in a day. It is a mix of an autobiography of how she became successful with information about changing your attitude about money, take chances and believe in yourself and a higher power.

Patricia | 2317 comments An Object of Beauty
by Steve Martin

Perhaps my expectations were different based on the author, as I find that sometimes that impacts my reading. This is not a comedy but rather a portrayal of the New York art scene.

Patricia | 2317 comments An Early Wake (County Cork #3)
by Sheila Connolly

Easy read cozy mystery set in an Irish pub and town with Irish rock music as the background of the murder.

Patricia | 2317 comments Kathy Griffin's Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index
by Kathy Griffin

This was like having a gossip gab fest with Kathy Griffin. You either like her or not but her book is true to herself. It was interesting to see hear how some of the people she discussed have a friendship with each other. I especially liked the Alzheimer pact by a group of them!

Patricia | 2317 comments Queen of the Air: A True Story of Love and Tragedy at the Circus
by Dean Jensen

It is always interesting to read a book about a person who in their time was so famous but whose fame may be unknown today. This story is a chronology not just of the life of the Queen of the Air but also that of the circus.

Patricia | 2317 comments U Is for Undertow (Kinsey Millhone #21)
by Sue Grafton

Review It has been a while since I read a Sue Graton book and I loved delving into this mystery book that has us going back and forward in time.
