The Bone Season Series by Samantha Shannon – A Read Along discussion

Hi all and welcome to the 2017 Bone Season Readalong! We will be starting on Monday, January 9th, but before then, feel free to drop in and introduce yourself. Everyone--rereading fans and newcomers alike--is here for a good time, so don't be shy.

I'm Shae, and I work at Bloomsbury in the US with Laura, whom some of you may remember from last time. THE BONE SEASON came out before my time here, but I binge-read the series last year and was completely absorbed by the fantastic world Samantha has created.

I think the piece that most drew me to these books originally was the magic system. I love intricate world-building, so the cool powers and neat structures were a big plus. Oh, and while I work hard not to play favorites, I think my affections are tied between Nick Nygard and Jaxon Hall. Don't read too much into that.

I'm Laura, I work at Bloomsbury on Samantha Shannon's books (among many others) and I LOVE this series. Working on it is such a treat and her imagination and creativity constantly blow my mind. Excited to read this full series again before The Song Rising comes out.

I happened upon this series here on Goodreads and thought I would give it a shot. I must say that I was surprised at how much I loved these books. I was very disappointed when I couldn't go out and grab the 3rd one!

Since I just finished the books I won't do the group read but I am looking forward to reading everyone's comments so that I can keep the story fresh for when the new book comes out.

Hi! I'm Rhiannon and I'm coming back for my third or fourth re-read! The thing I love the most in the books would have to be the characters and the character development, and the world building. There are some incredible scenes that take place in both books and I'm so excited to be re-visiting this world!

Hi, I'm Hannah! I've been a fan of these books from the start! like a lot of other people, I'm blown away by the world building of these books. I'm not sure I've ever felt so completely immersed in a book's world. I also find the characters very compelling, as none of them are completely black and white.

Hi, I'm Alix, and will be here re-reading. I participated in the first re-read of TBS before TMO came out, and had a great time discussing the book and theorizing with others who were re-reading. It's very clear on re-reading how well Samantha has thought out and built Paige's world. My favorite characters, aside from Paige and Warden, are Lucida and Ognena Maria. I love to hate Jaxon. I'm looking forward to re-reading again with all of you!

Hello everyone! I'm Erin, I got the Bone Season the day it came out back in August of 2013 after I heard Carrie Fletcher talking about how much she enjoyed her ARC copy! I absolutely fell in love with the storyline and the characters and convinced all of my fellow reader friends that they just had to read it! Super excited to read the first two again and see if i can pick up on anything that I might have missed the first time!

I gave The Bone Season 4 stars and The Mime Order 5 stars!!! I just started reading The Bone Seaon again and I think I'm going to like it even better this!!! It took me a while to get into it the last time!!! But I'm really excited to reread it!!!
