Monument 14 discussion

Life inside the Monument doesn’t play out like the life in other young adults. I went into “Monument 14” by Emmy Laybourne with a different mind set than what I ended up with. The life of Dean, the book’s hero has a truly original story. Once he gets stuck inside the monument with the girl of his dreams and many others; his life completely turns around. The story seems like such a love story in the beginning, but then turns out to be much more than love and because about their slim chances of survival. In between trying to get the girl of his dreams and trying to protect his brother; he starts to wonder if he truly is doing the right thing. Dean’s story is completely original. While Hunger Games’s Katniss Everdeen has to choose between a boy’s survival and her own, Dean has to protect his brother until they get to safety or help his girlfriend as she is pregnant with someone else’s child. Is Dean going to choose his girlfriend again or is he going to change his mind and stay with his brother to protect him?

He'll probably be dumb and leave his brother for the girl.
