Too bad you didn't like it. I love this series.

Like Jen I absolutely love this series. It is one of my favorites to come out in many years. Too bad it wasn't your cup of tea, but I will definitely be looking into the other books you mentioned that are similar.
This is a cute fantasy, really well written, but somehow it just wasn't my cup of tea. Its style is very similar to classic fantasy like George MacDonald's or Lord Dunsany (from what little I remember of them) but modernized. If you like that type of tale, then this is perfect for you. For me, it was just okay. I'm not sure I will bother to read the rest of the Fairyland books.
It's certainly quirky though.
