annapi | 5517 comments Twelve year old September lives quite an ordinary life in Omaha until a Green Wind takes her away to Fairyland, where she embarks on an adventure.

This is a cute fantasy, really well written, but somehow it just wasn't my cup of tea. Its style is very similar to classic fantasy like George MacDonald's or Lord Dunsany (from what little I remember of them) but modernized. If you like that type of tale, then this is perfect for you. For me, it was just okay. I'm not sure I will bother to read the rest of the Fairyland books.

It's certainly quirky though.

Oh, I liked it, I just didn't love it. I picked it up because it was recommended by Patrick Rothfuss, one of my favorite authors. His book The Slow Regard of Silent Things is very much like Valente's book but more serious.
