I LOVE "HEARTLESS"!! It's my 29th favorite book EVER. (That's really high by the way, even if it sounds like a big number.)Hmm. . .off the top of my head I totally love all things with Felix and Aethelbald together! Their sword practice especially! :) That's one of my favorite parts! :D They're great together. <3
I think I understood everything, though I wish it had said how old Felix was sooner. :P I was sure he was like sixteen cause Una was eighteen and then it turned out he was fourteen and I was like "WHAT?!?!". Heehee. Silly me. XD
Oh, I know, that part is GREAT! You'll see more of Felix in Moonblood and a little in Shadow Hand! He's an awesome character!
I confess I didn't read Heartless first. In fact, I read it third. : ) So all of a sudden Leonard the jester comes bouncing in, and I'm like, "I KNOW YOU!" : )
I've been tempted to read them out of order but I'm trying to be 'good'. :) That's so funny about Leonard! :D
I KNOW. I LOVE THAT. It's also funny how they're going to be brother-in-laws and Felix is probably always going to call him that. XD
Has anyone listened to 'The Reason'? It's a song by Lacey Sturm, and would be so perfect for the end credits of Heartless. Wow.
Does anyone know the name of Una's mother? I always thought it was Oriana, but now I can't find a scrap of evidence saying so-- there's even a scene in Moonblood that leads me to believe otherwise.
I've never heard of that...But that reminds me, has anyone ever listened to the song "Monster" by Skillet? It is SOOO Una. Plus the title is "Monster" like Monster/Eanrin. ;)
Oh, I think I've heard Monster!
And yes, Allison, I do know her name. It's in a deleted scene of Moonscript. It was Estara, I believe. Beautiful, yes?

WHOOPS!!!!! Anne Elisabeth once called Moonscript Moonblood, so now we're even! Haha! Yes, Moonblood. :D
I've been daydreaming about this becoming a movie ... again.: ) And, I think Robert Carlyle would make a very good Dragon King. What say the rest of you Imps?
Ghost wrote: "I've been daydreaming about this becoming a movie ... again.: ) And, I think Robert Carlyle would make a very good Dragon King. What say the rest of you Imps?"I had never heard of the man before, so I looked him up, and Google helpfully provided an image as soon as I clicked "search."
Yes. He managed to make me start when I saw one of the pictures of his face, because (while I don't know if I would have before you mentioned it) I definitely could see the Dragon.
Allison wrote: "Eek! Talk about a scary face."Haha, my thoughts exactly! He plays Rumplestiltskin in "Once Upon a Time", and the second I saw his face I shivered and thought of Death-in-Life.
So he could! However, I think the Dragon's face, since it SO skull-like would mostly be CGI. Thus it mostly depends on the actor's abilities. Someone else mentioned Johnny Depp, and I thought that was a pretty good idea. :)

Also, I could be wrong, but I don't think he plays roles with the most... emotional integrity. Someone as serious and awful as the Dragon might not be his forte.
Allison wrote: "Also, I could be wrong, but I don't think he plays roles with the most... emotional integrity. Someone as serious and awful as the Dragon might not be his forte."Amen. : )
Ooh--I agree. Robert Carlyle, with appropriate CGI and pasty-white makeup, would make an excellent Dragon. Just imagine him with fiery eyes and the huge black fangs that don't fit into his mouth! And the long neck? *shudder*Now to find a good Life-in-Death . . .
Both the Dragon and Lady Life in Death would have to be CGI. So a good voice is what we would need for Lady Life-in-Death, and even that would probably have to be altered.
Allison wrote: "Katie McGrath, with some suitable face paint? She's a pretty cool villainess..."I looked up photos for her, and she looks a little bit too... Young. The slightly new-at-villaining-seemingly-very-innocent-yet-very-capable-type-of-villainess type, but not really for the Lady of Dreams Realized, was my impression from the photos.
Now that I'm thinking about it, the scene with Galadriel from Lord of the Rings really makes me think of her... (Before you ask; no, I'm not much of a fan of Galadriel :p). I imagine that the special effects would be something similar to that, perhaps?
You know, I kinda thought of Cate Blanchett. She just has that deep, eerie voice that with some digital altering, could easily work for the Sister. But remember, the Lady is utterly black save for her white eyes and white hair.
I think of Life-in-Death like a photo-negative, so an actress with white skin and dark hair and eyes would work.Edit:
. . . BECAUSE she would look the opposite of that in negative. (Life-in-Death is kind of like a photo negative of the Dragon--she is black where he is white and white where he is black. They are kind of like yin/yang.)
So, Katie McGrath would work--with a lot of CGI magic.
Does that make better sense?
Finally looked her picture up, and I have to agree with Athelas. She looks more like an Attolia sort of villain than Death's sister.
... I think so. Hannah? D : Ooh. I just bing imaged white hair. It was kind of creepy. I don't think that's their natural hair color.
The thought of Katie McGrath as Attolia makes me happy, Ghosty.. : )
I'm a little late on this... Oooh Cate Blanchett as Life-in-Death. I'm thinking of that part in LoTR with her talking about taking the ring... Yes. (Athelas doesn't like Galadriel? o.o)
Whaaaat TIME is it? It's time for a reread of Heartless and the series thereafter, THAT'S what time it is... ;)
Ooooh, I was planning to reread Heartless this year! But, I'm 100 pages into another book already. But Heartless...But finishing things I've already started. But...but... *is conflicted*.Well, I may wait until later in the year to reread Heartless, but I'm pretty sure I remember it well enough that if y'all have a discussion, I can still add my two cents. :)
Ooo, that would be fun! :) I was actually looking at Heartless the other day... I re-read the ending and it made me feel a lot better and like the series is more wrapped up than I thought it was. And I just read Draven's Light!!! :DAnyway, that would be super fun to re-read the books with y'all, so like Athelas says, say when! :)
Oh oh! Great idea! I'm busy just now, but if y'all do have an epic readathon through the series, I'd love to jump in when you get to Moonblood because I still need to read it and work my way through the rest of the series! :D
Very true! One of the biggest cliffhangers in Golden Daughter is fulfilled in Heartless...and Eanrin and Imraldera's relationship is back on a better road in Moonblood.
And Rosie and Leo's future is hopeful in Shadow Hand as well!

Hello fellow wood-imps,I would love to join in a read-a-thon too! Also, I am praying that God will make a way for this series to continue. He knows exactly what needs to happen. At this point it will take a miracle, but He is very good at those. And if a whole bunch of us prays together, who knows what He might do?
Even if it happens years from now, that's okay. God's timing is perfect.
