A Fine Balance discussion

I really liked "A fine Balance" and "The Glass Palace" by Indian authors. Heading over to China and was wondering if there was something similar to that but taking place in China.

Try reading The Dark Road by Ma Jian.

Might be a little late for this answer, but if anyone else is wondering... The first book that came to mind was Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Madeleine Thien. It's a little long (400+ pages), but if you've read A Fine Balance that shouldn't scare you.
