I slumped down at the edge of the water, completely exhausted after my long chase through the woods. The silvery hind had outrun me, despite my almost catching her four times.

The wind stirred as Falix landed next to me on the pebbly bank. He gave light-hearted titter. You'll catch her next time.

I laughed at his comment. "Maybe. She might be a little breathless after that game of tag. I think she'll want me to leave her alone for the duration of the week."

Ah well, that's how deer are.

"Yes, that's consolation."

I was on my feet in an instant, my knife appearing in my hand.

Felix gave a startled flap of his wings, but then settled. Peace, He said calmly. It's just a girl. Look.

I narrowed my eyes, but didn't lower the blade. I stared out at the girl with sharp blue eyes. In acknowledgement to the girl's demanding question, I lifted my chin. "That is none of your concern. And do not pretend to own the lake, it isn't yours to claim."

Falix cocked his head with a confused look in his eyes. Did we agree to help her with something?

I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.

"Oh no, certainly." I said to the girl, sheathing my knife. I gave a deep bow, since I wasn't wearing a dress. "Forgive me for being so utterly, disgustingly, rude. I should not have presumed upon your intentions."

Falix's laughter bubbled up in my head. Princess! He exclaimed. You must teach me your ways! I am but a fledgling in the presence of your sarcastic sarcasm!

By now, I was biting my lip so hard I could taste blood.

I couldn't help it any longer, I burst out laughing, falling to the ground and rolling around on the bank.

"Oh my–oh my gosh–I can't!" I clutched my arms to my stomach, trembling and fitful and trying to breath while at the same time hoping to get all the laughter out of my system.

Falix on the other hand, was looking even more confused now than ever. Can she hear me? He asked with his face in as close of a scowl as it could get. Only trained humans can do so, such as yourself. And if she can hear me, she must be pretty stupid.

I couldn't help laughing even more at that. "Falix stop it!" I cackled. "I'm suffocating over here!"

The giant falcon turned his head to me. Ah, silly princess. Your kind will never cease to amaze me. You inflict pain upon yourself almost as a boundary. Your lip is bleeding.

I managed to get to my knees, breathing heavily. "Oh man...Falix, tell me something I don't know."

The blood is running down your chin

"Great, now I look like a vampire?

If you were paler. And had dark hair perhaps. And your cloak was black. And you–

"Alright, alright. I get it." I muttered, flopping over onto my back. I glanced over at the girl still in the water. "Dang girl, you know how to make someone laugh!"

((Falix and Flairen are conversing telepathically, so Ocean actually can't hear him. Unless he spoke out loud of course, but even then she'd only hear a bunch of chirps and whistles. I mean, he is a giant falcon after all))

Falix and I shared an amused look. Who pried off her antlers? He muttered.

I laughed at that. "Indeed. Very bossy are we?" The second part of which was directed towards the girl. "I'm a princess, so I'm used to it. But you on the other hand, are a complete stranger, so I don't exactly appreciate being told what I can and can't do."

((Flairen and Ocean, or Me and you?))

Princess... Falix warned.

I glared down at the bank and gave a frusturated huff. "I know you understand me, Falix, but I hate being pushed around like greens on the plate of an unwilling child!" I threw my hands in the air. "I probably sound like the physical incarnation of the teenage rebellion, but I need a little more freedom, you know?"

It is your duty to the people.

"Yeah, but I didn't have a choice."

Felix snapped his beach in agitation. There are countless girls that wish they could be princess! Be thankful you have the honor.

"I wish I had that choice too."

((hmm, I don't know. As you can tell, Flairen is not very impressed by Ocean's arrogant attitude))

I raised an eyebrow in response to the girl's smirk. "Well I'm glad to know you find such pleasure in that."

Falix gave a low whistle.

"I've always want to meet a hypocrite." I contorted my face into a scowl and said in a perfect imitation of the girl's voice: "Don't make fun of me!"

"I don't think you completely understand what you've just said." I scoffed, crossing my arms. "How can you ask me not to make fun of you, when you just made fun of me?"

Her comment is noted though. Felix quipped. I glared at him. Talking to yourself looks stupid.

I eyed Ocean's extended hand. "I'm Flairen." I said, keeping my arms crossed.

I snorted. "Oh pardon me for getting defensive when I'm talked down to." I shot her an acussing look. "I don't appreciate being pushed around like that."
