Ashleigh Black (ashblack) I'm currently reading Insurgent (Divergent Series) and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. c:

Charley Adams (charleya73) | 36 comments I'm reading The Infernal Devices at the moment - currently halfway through the second one, although I've also got books on hold like the 5th Wave and the second game of thrones book.

How are you finding the Mortal Instruments?

You know, I got a spoiler about Jace and Clary early on and I still enjoy the book. I'm curious how that'll play out in the next books. And then I just watched the movie for the first time and I thought it was kind of rushed and corny but the actors and actresses are so good looking haha. How far are you in the series?

Darn spoilers... >_<
The movie was a little strange - like the ending completely changed and they had those cheesy little one-liners that kind of made me cringe. But yes it was definitely a good looking cast!
I read most of them last summer so I've finished the 5th one. I've got the 6th and final one on my bookshelf but I'm finishing the Infernal Devices first (even though I don't particularly enjoy them as much) because apparently there are a lot of references to them etc and I just want to get them out the way basically.
What I've found in this series is that the odd-numbered books are the more interesting ones, but I still think the 1st one is best.

Hmm.. that's an interesting way to look at it. I wanted to read Infernal Devices as well. That's another reason I made all of the folders and topics. I wanted to see what everyone has read and I could only think of common and popular series.

I think the writer basically recycled the Mortal Instruments characters and put them in the Infernal Devices...at least that's how it feels to me.
Is there a thread to suggest some more books?

Cool, thanks :D

Cold Magic and The Riddle are what I'm reading. I've only read the first two Mortal Instruments books, and that was years back.

Yeah haha, I'm a bit behind on the times with those. I got caught up with school and barely had a chance to read for fun. I'm trying to burn through them so that I can get on to other things.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought I was a bit young with some of the content in them. I had just turned twelve, so.

message 13: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Black (ashblack) Oh wow, well I hope you liked them c:

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

They were good, and I really liked the ones I read, but I didn't feel they were appropriate for me at the time.

message 15: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Black (ashblack) It happens, I feel. I'm not that far through them to totally understand but I don't know, I'm not sure when it's "too old" to still be reading these kinds of books. Not that I care. I just wonder when I'll ever stop, if I ever do.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

My mum reads some YA still. . . .

message 17: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Black (ashblack) Like I said, there's nothing wrong with it. I just don't know if I always feel the same way. Never mind. Scratch what I said.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I was trying to say that it's fine to read whenever. . . .

message 19: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Black (ashblack) Okay, I just wasn't sure if I was offending. Sometimes I can't always tell someone's tone when reading text.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm bad at conveying tone when I'm talking to people online. It ruined a friendship once. . . .

message 21: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Black (ashblack) Well I won't let it happen here. I like honesty so just let me know if I ever cross a boundary.

Okay. You certainly haven't, so it's fine.

Leah | 11 comments I just finished the last book in the Mortal Instruments series! So good! My friend and I are rereading the Harry Potter series as a part of our summer goals, so I'm currently reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

message 24: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Black (ashblack) That's exciting, Leah! I'm loving Mortal Instruments right now. I watched the movie and it's hardly like the book in my opinion. And rereading Harry Potter is always a good time!

message 25: by Leah (new)

Leah | 11 comments The book is far better than the movie in my opinion. That could just be because I loved the series before the movie came out and I had extremely high expectations, but there were a couple changes in the movie that I didn't really like. I'm glad you're liking the book so far!

message 26: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Black (ashblack) I completely agree! They just failed at the movie for me though. Such a disappointment minus the good looking actors and actresses.

(don't forget to fill out the other topics and polls please.)

lilacskies | 10 comments Wow the mortal instruments sounds interesting haha:)I read the first one in the series and I thought it was good, but it didn't really hook me to continue reading:/I'm reading the Break-Up Artist now~

message 28: by Laura (new)

Laura Poppins I think that whatever your age Harry Potter's books are always good to read!
