This book is highly education in the means of pride. In the book you have the lion who is obviously the king of the jungle, top of the food chain if you will, and you have a tiny mouse who as we know is the complete opposite of the lion. At first the mouse is being hunted by its predator and is running away. He then stumbles into the lion and is need of help the lion just flicks him away and goes on his way. As a king of the jungle the book shows the lion walking straight not looking up or down, he then trips upon a rope and gets caught in a trap. I think this part of the book really emphasizes how no matter who we think we are or how good we assume we are we must always be vigilant and attentive to our surroundings. Also I think that the part where the mouse is flicked away by the lion, that shows us that the lion feels as if he is better than the mouse and does not really help him, rather just pushes him away, I think that shows us as humans that that's not really the right thing to do we must always offer a hand to those in need. This book is clearly a the lesson of the fable, this helps a lot especially since this book has no words and only consist of animal noises, and few other noises as well. The book seems to take place in some place in Africa, this could be easily noticed by the way the illustrator painted the animals and their surroundings especially when the safari vehicle passed by. I really like how this folktale uses animals to teach us a valuable lesson of life, really love how you can tell the expressions on the animals as if they were humans themselves, makes you gain a type of connection with the characters.
