I have yet to write this. What do you think?

Maeve, a 16-year-old from Cincinnati [or another well-known city] whose mother has never allowed her to get near a sewing machine, finds out she is a descendant of Sleeping Beauty/Briar-Rose/Aurora/whatever you call that particular fairytale character. Meanwhile, a troubled boy called Cyril [said SIR-ull] begins having dreams about her, although he lives on the other side of the country. Needless to say, (view spoiler).

Also, I'm considering making the mean-girl, Varvara, a descendent of Maleficent, but is that overkill?

Grace (fives) | 1090 comments Sounds cute! But not super original, though it sounds like it would be good.
I can't wait to see it! :D

I agree with you, it's not the most original idea I've had. ;)

Roxanne Shriver (roxannexshriver) I'd definitely read this! ^w^

And yeah, I think it'd be cool to give Maleficent a descendent too. I'm interested to see how Varvara's character turns out. :)

Maybe you could say Maleficent had a child with Sleeping Beauty's father, the king, a son and say that Maleficent tried to kill her so her son could be the true heir to the kingdom.

Roxanne Shriver (roxannexshriver) Cool idea.

em_panada I like Gabrielle's idea too - but instead of all that drama I would put Maleficent as the king's OLDER sister and now she's using her descendant to take over the crown (since she thought it was her crown - makes sense to curse Aurora now). Same theme though.

That aside, the plot sounds super cool, and you could probably do several spin offs.

For an example, Snow-White's descendant could live in a small town in the mountains. Her enemy of course would be (not her step-mom), but another girl who is known for being vain and loving hand mirrors (Evil Queen's descendant). You could have the miners as the "dwarfs", a mountain boy as the "prince", and you could add that the MC loves apples, but her parents always rejected them from strangers.

Either way great idea!

I think this is a great idea! Would this be taking place in modern times? Because then I don't think the whole maleficent using her descendant to get the kingdom would work because there would be no more kingdom.

It does take place in modern times. :)

You're first point sounds interesting, but I kind of feel like then it would just be the same as the Little Mermaid plotline.

em_panada @Gabrielle - Lol, almost. I don't think Ursula was related to King Triton originally - I just think her family wanted the crown. That said though, you do make a point.

Nell (ajdietz) I like this idea. Have you started writing it?

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

No. I got caught up in another writing idea. I'll try to fit this in, though. :)

Makenzie (makenziereadsalot) | 34 comments I would definitely read this book.

Celofán | 34 comments It's a nice idea, but it might get tricky trying to avoid Maeve becoming useless (since she'll be, you know, in a comma). You could add struggles within her dreams but then you'd need 2 POV and I'm not sure if that's recommendable at all.
