Okay so I read this book when I was little and I can't remember the name and it's driving me absolutely crazy. Hopefully someone can help. I only remember bits and pieces that are very strange separately, just a warning. I'll give all the info I can remember. It might have been something like "The kids (or children) of _____ Lane"? I might be making that up, I'm not sure. It wasn't a picture book, it was actually a pretty thick novel. but it was for younger kids. It also did have pictures in it occasionally which were in black and white. It was some kind of take off of wizard of oz. It was about a few kids that lived on the same street I believe, or at least very close to each other. I believe they were all girls. One of the girls lived in some kind of intricate tree house, and another just moved in to a mansion she inherited from her great aunt that died by sticking a fork in a toaster. They all go to a really weird school, I remember the new girl (one who moved into mansion and I remember one of them took piano lessons (from a person that somehow ties in to the plot later) but they're very bad at it. There's also some kind of memorial well at the school of the creator of this weird school. They all get transported to "oz" somehow, but it's stranger. I remember specifically (and this part is very weird) at one point they were captured in oz by three sisters (I think) and were forced to peel potatoes. There were also some sort of potato people. The book ends with them coming up from the well at school. Also, the ruby slippers are in it at some point.
