Ch. 53-59
1) What happens to Acteon and why?
2) How does Catherine try to turn Charles against Henry for creating his illness?
3) Why does Charles let the accusations against LaMole and Coconnas stand even though he knows the truth? Who gives false testimony?
4) What happens when the fellows face torture?
5) What is the plan to rescue LaMole and Coconnas? What becomes of it?

Well, I didn't have many notes from this section - i think i rushed through it to find out what happened next.

So Catherine tries again to kill Henry, fails, and poisons her son. Probably not a tragedy for her, as her second son would have a chance at the throne.

La Mole and Coconnas are falsely accused, tortured, and condemned to die. King Charles is willing to let them die to save the honor of the house.


Renee M | 802 comments In the movie, the scenes related to the poisoned book are harrowing. I wonder if Umberto Ecco got the idea from Dumas or if poisoned pages were a creepy thing which actually happened back then.
