This may well be the most commonly known of Austen's novels. I'm very excited to finally read this book! Hope you'll have fun and it'll be a wonderful time for you. You're welcome to share all of your thoughts here ;D Happy reading! Xx

Hello everybody! I finished Pride and Prejudice last week. Didn't expect to like it as much as I did! Although it took me a good 100 pages to get into, I was seriously invested in the end. I don't know, but somehow Jane Austen manages to write compelling characters so there's no way I don't get pulled into the story ;D
Here are my final thoughts if you're interested https://youtu.be/-ztCjPN3DYA
Looking forward to the next month! Xx

What character did you liked the most? I found Mrs Bennet very funny..I wouldn't like to have her as mom but she made me laugh

Oh, I didn't like Mrs Bennet actually 🙈 I thought she was really silly and manipulative but maybe it reminded me too much of my mother. I really liked Mr Bennet though. Although he doesn't win the best parent award either, but I found he was fun to read. The way he teases his wife and she just doesn't get what he's up to made me giggle.
Did anyone else spot the sublte hints to the fairytale of Cinderella or do I just start seeing folklore references everywhere?

Весна | 5 comments First, I would like to thank Katie once more for forming this group. She gathered us here from all over the world, where we can share our impressions for Austen's novel and characters in them. Writing these reviews are some kind of nice homework to whom I'm looking forward (the ascendant in Virgo :)).

Now P&P. I found this novel so beautifuly written; lively and witty language and vivid portrait of characters. While the film version of Mrs. Bennet makes me laugh like a drain (thank you Brenda Blethyn :) ) the book version of her is sooo annoying. I found her very rude, busybody mom/person. Does she ever stop chattering and shrieking? But we can learn sth from her: how to be determined and persistence if you are to accomplish a goal.

Mr. Collins's style of speaking/writting is quite interesting although his personality is not.

Jane Austen gave us some principles of relationships specifically on parenting, e.g. Bennets vs. Gardiners.

5 stars from me :).

Thank you all for joining!
Pride and Prejudice is my favourite so far. The interesting thing with the Bennet parents for me is that you don't really get that they are both neglecting their children at first. I really only cought on when Kitty elopes and Mrs Bennet makes life for her daughters so hard instead of taking care of them. But I think that's probably on purpose and we only "get" it when Elizabeth finally admits to herself that her family is not that great. I find the differences in the sisters personlity very telling. They show different coping strategies for dealing with their neglecting parents.
I always thought Pride and Prejudice was about the romance, but actually I think it's really about the Bennets.
