Hi everyone!

July seems like a great time to have our first group-read. All of the responses to the poll seem positive, receptive at the least, to the idea so we are going to forge ahead.

Does anybody have any suggestions of books that we could read? Is there something you've been itching to read for a while that might work well as a group-read? If so, post below and we'll work out which book we are going to read together next month. :)

Cheers

smokeandmirrors (_smokeandmirrors) I would love to do a group read - my only problem is that July is a bit of a relaxation month for me as it's the month during the summer holiday where my family does nothing and it's super fun. So I may have some issues getting my hands on the book (that said, if we go ahead with the read then I'll probably cave and get the kindle version of the book even if I don't like kindles grr).

Of actual, constructive things such as suggestions I've had my eyes on three books/series for a while now: Daughter of Smoke and Bone, The Passage and The Name of the Wind. Thoughts on those?

I just thought I'd throw out a few suggestions on my to-read list, if anyone is interested - The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch or The Dragon's Path by Daniel Abraham. I'm looking forward to reading both of these soon regardless!

Just some suggestions from my to-read list now as well. BTW if any of these suggested novels grab you then please feel free to second them.

The Emperor's Knife
The Oathbreaker's Shadow
The Dragonbone Chair
The Whitefire Crossing
Among Thieves
Prince of Thorns

Admittedly, some of these don't have all that many ratings and reviews, but I don't think that should something off-putting anyway. Any more suggestions?

I've got Prince of Thorns on my to-read list, I wouldn't mind trying that one out. Anyone else have any thoughts?

smokeandmirrors (_smokeandmirrors) I tried the Memory, Thorn and Sorrow (the Dragonbone Chair one) series a couple of years ago and it didn't grab me all that much, but I would be interested in reading it again now just to see whether I feel the same way.

I looked at the rest of Scott's list as well and they all sound super interesting so I'm going to cheat here and say I don't mind what we decide to read, haha.

Ok so, the July group read for Prince of Thorns is still ongoing if anyone wants to participate. But we're also interested in starting a middle of the month read too. All previous suggestions are open, plus anything else anyone would like to read. Anything pressing on your reading lists that you want to get to? let us know if you're interested! Current suggestions include:

The Emperor's Knife
The Oathbreaker's Shadow
The Dragonbone Chair
The Whitefire Crossing
Among Thieves
The Name of the Wind
The Lies of Locke Lamora
The Dragon's Path
The Passage

Thoughts? Feel free to supplement this list with any of your choices!

I like the Elfhunter series.

Nathan Augustine (cynewulf) The Wheel of Time is one of my favorite epic fantasy series of all time! Also, the Stormlight Archive series only has two books out so far but they're really good!

Athanasios Polychronopoulos (athanasios_9) | 2 comments Well, i'm currently reading the First Law series, by Joe Abercrombie. I've just begun the second of the triology. It's very good. The first book, 'the blade itself', was a lot of character development (which i enjoyed), and towards the end it gets rolling quickly. I'm open to all of the suggestions above, and likely open to all of the suggestions below. i'm open
