Gearing up for the release of Volume 5, MZD has created a Facebook reading group to read a volume each month leading up to the Halloween Day release of The Familiar, Volume 5: Redwood. Schedule as follows: Vol. 1 - July, Vol. 2 - August, Vol. 3 - September, Vol. 4 - October, Vol. 5 - November
There will be discussions, prizes, cat photos, and Q&As with MZD. Prizes will go to those who participate the most, participate well, read hard, and go the distance.
Since we're starting later in the month, the first "assignment" is to read TFv1 pages 1-159 between July 5-7. Don't worry, these pages will go fast.
To start the discussion, how do you think the opening "previews" set the stage for the rest of the book, given that the format of THE FAMILIAR is a lot like a television program?
Regarding spoilers: If you have read VOLUMES 1-4 before, feel free to include any observations that connect all the volumes. These are infinitely valuable. Just preface your post with the word SPOILER. Join the conversation here: goo.gl/tCiRi9
You're welcome to post your thoughts and questions on each week's reading assignment page, or even on the main reading club page or Instagram. We don't want to bog everyone down with too many rules. This book is all-encompassing and the conversation can be, too!
You can find the reading group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/TheFam...
I will be creating a general thread for each week here for discussions, too, so feel free to multi-post thoughts here, as well.
From the group:
