What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read a book about 5 years ago about a boy that lost his memory and is basically trying to uncover what his life was.
He wakes up one day (in the street) with no idea who or where he is. Through the entire book it is like the boy is relearning how to live.
He is clearly now homeless as it describes him finding food that people have thrown out and looking for places to sleep.
He slowly regains memories piece by piece and at the end of the book remembers that he is from an abusive household and that he ran away.
The entire book is written in poetry that doesn't seem to follow any structure. It uses very simple language and could have possibly been a children's book? Although I doubt it because of the ending..
I've spent years trying to remember what book this is. Anybody have any idea? Thanks!
