Here are a few questions to consider before joining us on the Walking Book Group this Saturday, July 29, at Indian Trails park near the Jorgensen Family YMCA at 10am. **SPOILER** - There are some questions that give some things away.

Compare the relationship between Talmadge and his sister to the relationship of Della and Jane.

Both Talmadge and Della have lost a sister, how have they grieved similarly and differently?

What does Caroline Middey represent in this story?

The relationship between Della and Angelene is not mother and daughter, describe how their relationship has changed throughout the book.

The change in Della's character throughout the book is dramatic, but is it authentic?

Please feel free to post any questions you may have or responses and comments here. Hope to see you on Saturday!

This was quite an intense discussion and we walked probably 3 miles! One thing I brought up at the discussion was that I actually thought Della was quite authentic, though her near-reversal in her attitude towards Angeline by the steamboat bordered on sugary ... But I was ok with that. It was a much needed bright spot in the narrative for me. And then it doesn't work out that well anyway so Coplin keeps us guessing and filled with tragedy.
