YA Backlist Bookclub discussion

Welcome to the discussion forum for the first in the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, a children's series following a camp for the children of Greek Gods.

This is a super fun and enjoyable series, and this first book is no exception: what were your thoughts when reading this? Did you first read it as a child, or is it a world you jumped into during your teens/adult years?

I first read this a couple of years ago, so it wasn't so much one of my childhood reads but I still loved it and I still do! I've been meaning to reread the whole series along with the Heroes of Olympus series so I can read the new series that is being released so I'm glad it has been chosen!!

The writing is definitely aimed at a younger audience but I feel like anyone of any age would enjoy this series and the educational value of these books is so great!
