I picked up The Seeds of Life: From Aristotle to da Vinci, from Sharks' Teeth to Frogs' Pants, the Long and Strange Quest to Discover Where Babies Come From because of the science-history combo. So far, I'm enjoying the writing style as well as the science & history!

The Essex Serpent
The first two chapters are beautifully written, almost like a very long prose poem, which I love (plus it makes me slow down, which is great).
I am reading The Resurrection of Joan Ashby by a new author, Cherise Wolas. This is a wonderful debut novel about a writer struggling to maintain her art in the midst of raising children. Beautiful prose.
I recently read Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. This book has been on the bestseller list for 21 weeks and it is well deserved. The book details the mostly forgotten story of the Osage Indians who were relocated to land that was rich in oil. When the government discovered this, they began to give money to them in exchange for drilling on their land. As word spread that the Osage were getting money from the government, individuals began to move to the area and take advantage of this, including murdering them in order to gain access to their profits. This is also the case that gave rise to what we now know as the FBI. The author tells this fascinating tale in a way that reads like fiction. Anyone interested in history and/or true crime should pick up this book. It was definitely worth the wait to get my hands on a copy.
