Well I just finished reading this book a couple of weeks ago and it might be considered a perfect fit for around Halloween. :) It will probably scare the socks right off of you! lol
by Lee Mountford
I love this time of year. It's so perfect for horror.
I'm looking forward to these three books this fall:
I'm looking forward to these three books this fall:
Just commenting to follow! I am on the look out for new quiet ghost stories. Not super gory, just supernatural, etc. I'm a sucker for a good classic haunting.
Last year we read Usher's Passing as a group read around the fall, right? Or maybe I did it as a buddy read, idk. Anyway that is a good book to read in the fall.
I also think Harvest Home is great fall read.
The October Country by Ray BradburyThe Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury
Halloween Carnival Volume 1
The Halloween Children
Not necessarily too scary, but perfect for this time of year. Keep an eye out for our group reads for October!

Those are great picks, Rachel!

Addy and I were thinking of doing buddy-reads for
,
and
this season. A Ray Bradbury-a-thon of sorts!

I usually try to fit something Bradbury into the month of October. I always associate him with that month. :)
Excellent. I've only read The Martian Chronicles of his, but I've wanted to try some of these others for a while. Looking forward to it.
I finally read Something Wicked This Way Comes recently (this past year, i believe) and it's sooooooooo good. Would love to read his other stuff now.

HiCurrently reading IT by Stephen King, I have a TBR list from now to Halloween that consists of 1) The girl in 6E 2) This book is full of spiders and The Call. although I didn't realize how long my current read is! I have not tackled a book longer than 5/600 pages in a long time let alone 1300.
Hope this help

The Call? That one?

That is a great book!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just read it a month or so ago... loved it!! The main character is awesome!

I think you'll love it. It's pretty dark for a YA book.
This is the list we used for Fall Fear 2016. Should have some good seasonal reads for you. https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

*Spring in the other half of the world.Halloween time I think is awesome for a good murder/mystery. A bit of Poirot wouldn't go astray :)
October Dreams: A Celebration of Halloween is a must read classic.I also enjoyed Halloween: Magic, Mystery, and the Macabre as well.
I'm also looking for specific Halloween novels and/or short stories. Any other suggestions to add to the ones already mentioned?
I am hoping to pick up IT for halloween as i have never gotten round to reading it yet just got to finish The Stand first.
While nor overly scary, I think Stewart O'Nan's The Night Country is haunting and brilliant, and I listen to the audiobook every October. For a longish short story, try Glen Hirshberg's Mr Dark's Carnival. It can be found in The Two Sams, and if iremember right, leads off October Dreams 2

Me too! I don't tend to read many short stories the rest of the year but there is something about the fall and October and Halloween that makes me really want to read a lot of them.
