1 - 30 October 2017

This challenge is to see if you can find all the words listed below within your reading for the month. You do not need to preselect a level.

The maximum number of words for each book is THREE. There is no page limit.

0-3 words : better luck next time
3-5 words : warming up
6-8 words : getting hotter
9-10 words : CHAMPION hunter!

October
dirt
erect
explain
fence
frame
friend
point
ship
stand
undress

Bonus
For our over-achievers who just need some extra words because the above weren't enough...

Unlike with the 10 words above - you must find the EXACT word to claim these bonus words, and I try to make them hard.

branch
fabulous
filthy
servant
succinct

To prove that you have found the word, please quote the page, percentage or LOC (Kindle) and include the sentence in which it appears.

Audiobooks are allowed so long as you can quote the page/%/LOC and the sentence. (Eg Using whispersync or finding that sentence in some other way.)

You must find the actual word or the word's root word must be at the core with the meaning essentially remaining the same ~ just turned into a noun, adjective, adverb etc. No prefixes or hyphenated extensions. An extension is allowed where it is often the accepted spelling eg goodbye or good-bye.

Where a word has more than one meaning, either meaning may be used. Eg coast (beachfront) or coast (moving without effort) etc

Please post all entries, updates, final posts and questions in this thread.

Jane (PS) | 24638 comments Tips for finding words - courtesy of Jennifer ♔Princess Penguin♔

Using Google books:
~Go here https://books.google.com/bkshp?hl=en&...
~Type in the name of your book
~Select your book
~On the left about midway down there will be a search bar, type your word in there.

Couple of things you need to know...
~you need to check every variety of the word you want so, let's say GROUP doesn't show up you would also need to type in GROUPS/ED/ING
~Unfortunately, 99% of the books on Google does not list page numbers (at least in my experience)

Using Amazon:
~You search for your book
~Once on your book page make sure you are on a version that is paperback or hardcover (Kindle editions will not work)
~On the left there will be a picture of your book and it should have "Search Inside" above it
~Click on the book and the search bar will be inside

You will not need to search separately for plurals but you will still need to search separately for -ed and -ing

***
You can also search for words in all the books loaded on your Kindle.

On the home page, use the 'search' function.
~ type in the word and select 'search my items'.

10/10

·DIRT - Insolent location 898, 73% (10/4/17)
She didn't understand, couldn't comprehend that she know faced a killer who would fuck her into the dirt. Bael almost felt sorry for her. Almost.
·ERECT - Wildfire pg.165 (10/21/17)
A six-legged horror sheathed in glistening thin tentacles that writhed like earthworms, it's top half erect as if it were some nightmarish version of a centaur…They came and came and came.
·EXPLAIN - A Demon and His Psycho location 3634, 76% (10/25/17)
"Well that amswers one question. If you'd-" Thunk. "-just let me-" Ping. "-explain." Clang. "Nothing to explain," she snapped, pulling forth another pair of daggers, small needlelike ones, from the seams of her jeans.
·FENCE - Wildfire pg.367 (10/21/17)
We crouched by the gate. Rivera pulled out big wire cutters. Behind the fence, a guard slumped over the console inside the guardhouse. A wet red smudge marked the window.
·FRAME - Darkness Awakened location 1665, 66% (10/2/17)
A giant hole had burned away most of it, leaving only hinges and scraps of wood hanging in the frame. The smell wasn't sulfuric. Not demonic fire. It was unique.
·FRIEND - The Dark Prince location 3524, 62% (10/12/17)
"We may not be friends now, but trust me, we will be soon. I mean, come on; look at me. I'm every girl's wet dream plus I'm pretty fucking awesome. You'll see," he grins.
·POINT - Trembling location 28, 1% (10/15/17)
Jason had shot five men in the head point blank to save me from getting killed. It made sense that Jason would seem older than me.
·SHIP - The Dark Ones location 1853, 47% (10/27/17)
The building said Immortal Industries. Talk about blatant. "You ship fish?" I still couldn't believe it. "Worldwide." Ethan grinned. "Disappointed?" "The name needs work."
·STAND - Savage Bite: BBW Paranormal Shape Shifter Romance location 653, 39% (10/8/17)
She felt awkward now. Barely dressed in front of a woman who claimed Zuri was nothing but a damn one-night stand.
·UNDRESS - Octavian's Undoing location 5382, 55% (10/28/17)
It was in those moments when she realized the state of her undress beneath the sheets, except for the lacy bra and bikini bottoms. Neither of which matched nor were remotely sexy.

Bonus
4/5

·BRANCH - Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic location 3385, 32% (in Dowser Series: Box Set 1) (10/7/17)
McGrowly snarled, reached up into the boughs of a cedar, and cracked a massive branch right off. A man fell out at his feet.
·FABULOUS - A Demon and His Witch location 2518, 59% (10/23/17)
"No, too much info would be inviting you to see the home video I made. But, we're getting off topic. Forget about my fabulous sex life, hard I know since I am so wonderful, and let's focus on you, which again goes against the grain, considered Hell revolves around me."
·FILTHY - A Demon and Her Scot location 542, 25% (10/30/17)
Those luscious lips pursed as she approached with undulating hips. "Such dirty language. Then again, what can I expect from a filthy Scot? You're just a step above an animal."
·SERVANT - La Petite Boulain location 4126, 83% (10/14/17)
Francois then performed the duties of a servant for Henry in the name of friendship; holding a bowl of scented water, that Henry might wash himself, and helping him to dress.
