I read all three of The Irish Mystery books in one fell swoop, and so I’m posting my review across the board for all three books. It’s a great series and highly recommend it.

More than a decade before, a horrendous crime rocked County Tyrone in Northern Ireland and despite it becoming an almost cold case, the local authorities have not given up on finding the perpetrators. Across the pond, in America, former attorney John Costa finds himself intertwined in the ongoing investigation, and more importantly, with their prime suspect, who he is deeply in love with.

John’s own investigation leads him and his associates into a variety of dangerous situations both in the U.S. and in No. IR – it’s a masterful story of deceit, betrayal and deception. Very well written and incredibly difficult to put down (as I said, I finished one and immediately bought the next).

I had one complaint, which had to do with book 1, but was well addressed in the subsequent books. The author over-used the phrase “I’ve not”, if this was used by just one character, it probably wouldn’t have been bothersome, but unfortunately, almost everyone in book 1 used it, in addition, the author seemed a bit afraid of contractions, as such, much of the dialogue seemed forced. Please don’t let this deter you though, this a fantastic series and I am very much looking forward to Mr. O’Hannon’s next book.

Typically I receive books for free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review, however this is a verified purchase.
