Margaret Panofsky | 3 comments Imagine our own world of just a few decades ago seen through the eyes of extraordinary people with more than their share of problems, both mundane and horrific. In The Last Shade Tree, time-travel is used as a vehicle for cynical instruction by the villainous Moon People, who push the unwilling protagonists back in time to survive in sites of real historical atrocities. Why? To show them what *not* to do once they reach the far-future world after the annihilation of WW III. But the epic novel goes far beyond time-travel and vivid character portraits. Related with pathos, romance, and downright humor, it is ultimately a redemptive fantasy ride through some of the ugliest moments of real human history into an unprecedented future that holds both promise and the threat of repeating the past. As principal character Sequoyah asks near the end of the book, “Who can understand the power of love?” Reviewers have called it “utterly unique” and “a wonder-filled read.” “From the first moment I was hooked—as the story unfolded—I was captivated! It's definitely a page turner / great read.” The Last Shade Tree by Margaret Panofsky
