I read this book between 2007 and 2009, so it was likely published in the early 2000s. I don't remember much, but it had a pink cooper with a paid off stappy pink heels on it. I believe that the shoes were the method of travel. When the h returned to the past she met a pirafe who was very similar to someone she knew and wad possibly involved with in the present.
