Yes I'm really a mood reader as well. I do still make lists because I find it a lot of fun but don't pressure myself to stick to them. Good luck with your challenge.

Xenocide Acquired 3/2017, 2.5/5 stars. I really want to like this series, but I should have just quit after Ender's Game. This, the 3rd in Ender's Saga, was..."Don't let the later books in Ender's Saga keep you from trying the Shadow Saga. If you liked Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow and following are very much in that vein, and nothing at all like Speaker for the Dead or Xenocide. Much less philosophizing and much more plot.
You picked some challenging ones for your first reads. Good for you! I like the looks of Above the Timberline and want to read more illustrated stories like that. I've been curious about Scientology so might have to see if the library carries that one.Cheering you on, Jessika!
I can't count the number of times I tried to read Moby Dick in high school. I have it on my TBR but I don't expect to read it any time soon.Good luck! You are off to a really good start.

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan Acquired sometime in 2011 before Borders closed, as this still had a Borders sticker on it! 5/5 ..."I have a copy of this book too, glad to hear how good it is! It's just moved up the list in the reading pile.
I still have some unread books from Borders, too. That would be a good subsidiary goal for this year’s TBR — read those books ;)
Good climbing, Jessica! Volunteering at a bookstore sounds fun...and potentially dangerous to your TBR. I’m poking along, but the year is young ;)
You're doing great! Ugh, I don't think my TBR can handle me working in a bookstore at all hahahaI'm excited for the Jane Eyre buddy read! I can't wait to finally read this book.

Jane Eyre Acquired before I joined GR in 9/2011, 3/5 stars. Overall a good story, a little slow in the typical classics style, but nice to see a s..."Oh cool! Jane Eyre was your big 2-0. :)

Acquired 8/2014, 3.5/5 stars. Another interesting story overall, but some of the inner monologue that this 10, 11, 12 year old MC was very unbelievable..."I love how you keep track of when you acquired the book. It helps feel more satisfaction to finish the book, I think.
Way to go on book twenty-three and finishing out a series!
I know what you mean about pushing through to read a pile of blah ones. Its hard to be motivated when it comes to reading out of duty. Maybe reward yourself with one you do want if you finish one you feel you should. That's what I do sometimes. Great job finishing up the three. :)
I wish you well on Don Quixote. I've read a couple classics this year which was my goal, but I've only ever read excerpts from Don Quixote so someday I'll have to tackle that one, too. Good luck, Jessika!
I had some luck with my books this year, but this last two months have been a little down on reading for me, and I don't know why...sometimes it's not even because I'm not enjoying the book or anything. BUT, after speeding through my last book of June, Our Dark Duet, things are finally looking up. Sometimes, that's all you need - a book that will get you in the reading mood again! Good luck with your climb, Jessika!

Acquired 10/17, 4/5 stars. Such a sweet story about growth and forgiveness. And a short story, too! I needed that to help me catch up!Finally halfway,..."
Loved Because of Winn-Dixie. Good climbing!

Thanks! Fingers crossed and pages turning ;)
On the Don Quixote book. Which translation and narrator did you use. There are at least 20 versions on audible. Thanks.
Jessika wrote: "Sorry for lack of updates - been very busy, and going out of the country tomorrow. Will update when I return."Hope you have a great trip!
Glad you're back safe and sound, Jessika. How fun that you got to visit Iceland. Oddly, I have a friend leaving for her vacation Iceland on Tuesday.Looks like you're right on track to finish off your climb.

Acquired 8/2016, 3/5 stars. FINALLY finished this book. For some reason, I couldn't get into it. I really enjoyed the first two in the series, but have been ..." I'm actually enjoying it more than the first two, and I really liked them. I love Robin & Strike's dynamic, but I'm hoping for a romance because I'm cheesy like that haha

Acquired 9/2014, 3.5/5 stars. Yay for long weekends! I'm finally making some good progress in this series."You are really climbing!
You can do it, Jessika! Maybe not the 12 books, but any amount now is fewer books for your mountain next year!
There's still time for those short books/novella/graphic novels! Regardless, you've already made a good dent on your TBR pile and managed to read more TBR books than newer ones, so YAY!

Acquired 10/2017, 1/5 stars. I'm reading through a list of "Best Books Based in Every State" and I gotta say, if this book is the best Nevada has..."It's one person's (or several) point of view...I'd say there are much better books about Nevada than Hunter S. Thompson's take. He was just a visitor, didn't live there. Perhaps people think this is the "best" Nevada book because of Las Vegas and the Sin City stereotype, but that isn't the entire state. I lived in Northern Nevada for almost a decade and most people who live there enjoy the "other" Nevada.... If you're curious anything by Robert Laxalt would be a better pick of a Nevada book.
