In 1930s Moscow, Satan appears in the guise of a Professor Woland. He confronts Berlioz, a proclaimed atheist and head of the elite literary union MASSOLIT, on his disbelief in the existence of Jesus Christ and predicts Berlioz’s impending death. Berlioz brushes off the prophecy, but dies soon after when he is decapitated at the train station, witnessed by poet, Ivan Ponyrev. His futile attempt to chase and capture Woland and his retinue and warn of their evil and mysterious nature lands Ponyev in a lunatic asylum.

Piyangie So Satan decides to hunt the atheists? And I got a feeling that Satan was annoyed with these atheists because in denying the existence of God and Christ they invariably deny the existence of Satan, himself. Although what happened to Ivan is dreadful, nevertheless I enjoyed reading his chase of Woland and his retinue and the terrible consequences he faced in his chase.
