Very much. she usually doesn't say too much to me. Maybe she'll let me post some of her thoughts as y'all add your own.
She did say she found the red bull more funny than scary for whatever that is worth. i Haven't read it since I was a teenager either, so maybe i"ll give it a glance if I have time.
J.J. wrote: "In the animated movie the bull was scary. I haven't seen it in many many years."Yes, I remember hiding from it. (I was like 7 or 8 when it came out).
I'm not that far behind you in age buddy lol. I consider myself an adult-child. Or I think there are other phrases for that lol.
I already finished it. It's a very short and pleasant read. I liked it a lot. And I'll stay on the thread to chat and post my comments when you guys are reading. This is actually the first BR this year for which I started early. For all the rest I either started late or on the exact date - but was late even then as almost everyone else had started early. So jinxed again. :)
I will be late too as I start the Deadhouse Gates today. But I have the book already so I'll be there.
I have just pulled it off my shelf and will be starting it tonight. This book has been on my TBR for years, so I am glad to have an excuse that makes me read it. I am really looking forward to reading this one!
Mayim wrote: "I will be late too as I start the Deadhouse Gates today. But I have the book already so I'll be there."Planning to start DG today too. And The Last Unicorn on the 17th.

Wow that was quick Laura! :) saw your review, glad you liked it.
Anni wrote: "Well... you know... I'm still reading Hero of Ages... 🙈"I know!! 😂 😂 you're going for the record of longest buddy read ever aren't you!
Maybe? Did I get a pony if I make it? There was talk about winning a pony in another thread!!! I definitely should win a pony! 😂😂😂 Uuuh, and if I am able to top it with these book, do I get a Unicorn? 🦄

How about a pony with a cone stuck on its head? 😊 🦄
@Siobhan - It is a fairly short book and I had quite a lot of time to read this week. :) Thanks to a slightly unpleasant round of 🐔🐣chicken pox 🐣🐔. :DIt's actually amazing how much you can read when you're confined at home and ordered to just rest! 🙃
I'm waiting for you guys to start this cause I have a few highlights and side notes that I'd like to talk about.

Aww no! Chicken pox is awful, especially for an adult. Hope you're feeling better.
Will let you know when I've read some!
I've started this today, and I've just finished as of now! Given it four stars, which is actually my first four star rating of the year for a real book (as opposed to a Discworld Big Comic) following a few pretty average reads.
Maybe I would've enjoyed it even more if I'd read it when I was younger as opposed to reading it for the first time at 29, but all the same I really liked it.
I've only got vague memories of the movie from being a bairn, so I didn't go in to this completely blind but generally speaking the novel's always better than the big screen anyway.
It's short and easy to read and written in a very sing-song way that doesn't make you feel completely that it's a book for children, but also let's you absorb the pages without much difficulty.
A few things though; there's a LOT of songs a poems throughout the story, and even though they don't distract too much I feel like there could've been less or at least shorter.
Schmendrick was a little confused, I'm not sure if he was supposed to be funny but ended up a little too serious, or was meant to be serious and ended up unintentionally funny, but sometimes the balance seemed a little off. (view spoiler)
Generally though, the plus points of The Last Unicorn far outweigh the negatives and it was a good day's reading anytime if you ask me!

Finished! You were right, Laura, it was a quick read!Sinjid, I quite liked all the songs. :)
I was a bit confused by Schmendrick too though. I never quite got a good read on his character.
General thoughts - (view spoiler)
I really enjoyed this overall. It was a fun, pretty light read. :)

That was a nice quote near the end there.
My favourite was - (view spoiler)

Haven't had a lot of time to read this today, but I am just over 100 pages in and enjoying it. :) The characters are most peculiar!
Lola wrote: "Haven't had a lot of time to read this today, but I am just over 100 pages in and enjoying it. :) The characters are most peculiar!"Haha you're definitely right there! :)
Charlie wrote: "I'm very liking this so far guys. It's very whimsical and the writing is beautiful."Totally agree about the writing! It drew me in straight away.
Lola wrote: "Haven't had a lot of time to read this today, but I am just over 100 pages in and enjoying it. :) The characters are most peculiar!"Hope you've had more time to read this and you're still enjoying it.
The characters certainly are!
Charlie wrote: "I'm very liking this so far guys. It's very whimsical and the writing is beautiful."I think I described the style as 'sing-song' if that makes sense?
It's just a proper bit of lovely writing.

Yeah!
That's exactly it!
You never really get a proper feel for Schmendrick either way for what he's really like.
I forgot to mention Molly as well; she was a good, no-nonsense kinda gal, and where she came in to the story was pretty entertaining.
