A Corner of the Universe discussion

In this book it starts with Hattie Owen one of the main characters watching a family home movie from the past summer. She reveals that she thinks of events as ‘’Before Adam’’ or ‘’After Adam’’ since that summer. Adam is her 21 year old uncle who is mentally disabled. Her grandparents( Adams parents) sent him away to a special school a long time ago for many years. Adam came home the summer that Hattie was turning 12 because his school was closing and he needed somewhere to live. That was the summer that changed her life. She wanted to learn and grow from her uncle adam and help herself. Adam told hattie that he thought she was one of the people that could ‘’ lift the corners of our universe.’’ This book is 189 pages long. It's an easy book to read. Ann M. Martin has written at least 5 books so she has experience with writing books. I think they books have the same kinda genre different types of kids books. I think the plot of this book is hattie trying to figure out what her uncle meant and trying to live up to what he said because his opinion was important to her when he came back. I really could not figure out if it was set in the past present or future. The book is set in a most realistic world like ours. I can easily make the movie in my head it's pretty clear, even knowing it's a kinda kids book it's still a good book for older teens to read because it a good book for anyone to read. My favorite character in this book is adam because even though he was away for years and hasn’t seen hattie in years but when he does he gives he advice and they just click right away. The main characters are adam and hattie I believe that they tend to act like real people like it's real life.
