That's a great goal to reduce the TBR pile. I always want to do it and try that but it always grow. Not sure about your dilemma; but maybe see if that month's buddy read is already on your list so you can kill 2birds with 1 stone kind of thing.
I love your stars and will steal that xD

That would be great if it would coincide, but often it doesn't. The TBR I want to bring down at this moment mainly includes Dutch books so I thinks the chance is slim. But I sure will keep an eye on it.

Thx! You go ahead :))
I love the way you organized your page! I too want to reduce my TBR pile greatly. I have soooo many books I need to read. lol Best of luck in 2018!

I'm focusing on books I received years ago and have been sitting on my shelf ever since. There are actually books I'd prefer to read, but I really want to clear my shelf and sell the books during our King's day at the end of April.
Good luck to you too!!

I absolutely love how well organized you have your corner Susy!! As for your quandary, my vote for those months you are stuck between reading from your TBR vs group/buddy read to go with the group/buddy read but see it as a treat or reward for the dent you've made up to that point...;-)P.S. I may draw inspiration from your ideas!
In regards to your dilemma, I'll be advising your from the mood-reader's standpoint, but first let me say that I admire your idea, even more so if you have the determination to stick with it throughout the year :) I'd suggest you evaluate the situation as it becomes relevant. Say the month in question is March, even if you've already chosen the books you want from your TBR, if there is a buddy read book that appeals more to you at that moment, then go for that. Yes, maybe it'll counteract your main goal of reducing your TBR by a few books, but my point this: it's better that you're reading what you really want to read in the moment, rather than feeling "obligated" to read a book because you've determined you wanted to read it at the start of the year, you know?
Anyways, best of luck, Susy! :)

Thank you for the compliment and advice Sandra! It seems that most people think that that is the way to go, so I'll do that!
PS: you're very welcome to do so!! :)

Thank you Lisa!

I've seen 7 movies so far (we're just doing movies watched in the cinema right or also the ones we watched at home?)

Wow. You're ahead of me. I haven't watched any movies yet. I will be starting with Before I Wake, a horror movie about a boy whose dreams occur in real life while he sleeps,

Sandra wrote: "A very successfully January! Congrats!!"Thank you Sandra!
I must say I didn't do much else, so my home is a mess, haven't sorted out the photos from my last holiday yet, have quite a lot to do for my EMDR training which I haven't gotten around to do yet, had a mere 1 time of physical workout, etc etc. So not much balance in my life at the moment hahahah
Ha ha! You've got me beat in the workout dept. so there's that;) Where did you travel to?? It's great that you organize your photos! Mine just stay in my phone. I am doing okay'ish with my reading/tidying up but failing miserably with respect to working out and I have to get my butt moving since I'm supposed to go to Machu Pichu this summer and I hear the hike up can be somewhat strenuous. I used to be so much better at working out! What is EMDR training? I 've been told to try audiobooks while cleaning or working out (it doesn't work for me but it might for you..?)

Ehhh, I don't organize my photo's. I want to (have a good camera and all) just can't seem to find the time.
Machu Pichu! That sounds awesome. I'm planning on going next year. Looking forward to hearing how you liked it!

Subject: Movie Watch 2018Unfortunately I haven't watched as many movies as you or as I did last year. :-(
Patriot's Day I saw last year, really good movie. I want to watch Murder on the Orient Express and Wonder, so I'm glad to see you rated them 5 stars. On the opposite spectrum rating I see that Brave New World got 2 stars. I didn't even know there were movie adaptations for it. There's supposed to be a 2018 film in production. Maybe that one will be better.
Hi Cindy! Well, I have been watching way more than I use to, mainly because of 2 challenges, one in this group and one in another group. The Murder on the Orient Express I liked is the old version. Didn't dislike the 2017 one, but the 1974 one was better imo.
As to Brave New World, wouldn't have known about it either without the movie challenge in the 2018 reading challenge group. I didn't particularly like the book/writing, but did like the idea but the movies just don't seem to be able to capture the idea or the feel of it. Didn't know about the 2018 production, looking forward to see that one (fingers crossed it will be a better version).

I want to focus on reducing my TBR-owned-for-a-very-long-time list (by an average of 2 books a month) and on reading more non-fiction/work related books (one a month). The other book (I'm planning on reading 4 books a month) will be the group read or a buddy read, since I enjoyed those a lot in 2017. If in a particular month the group and buddy reads don't interest me, I will read an extra book from my TBR list. My only dilemma is if in a particular month there's more than one group/buddy read that interests me: do I give up on my TBR goal or will I have to make a tough choice on which group/buddy read to join (and let the others go). Trying to read them all has been too stressful so I don't want to do that again.
Quite a dilemma! Any thoughts/advice?
