What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

When I was growing up in the 1970s, we owned a book that told the nativity story, set among itinerant workers in the U.S. I can't remember whether the characters were Mary and Joseph or Maria and Jose, but they ended up in a gas station, where their baby was born.

I've googled quite a few variations of this to find the title, and I am coming up empty. Thanks for your help.

The only thing I can think of is a short movie Star in the Night that has this type of scene.
