Djinn are having a bit of a western cultural moment—from The Golem and the Jinni to the TV adaptation of American Gods to the upcoming live-action version of Aladdin. What are your favorite stories featuring djinn characters and mythology?

Kayti Burt | 57 comments The one that comes immediately to mind, perhaps because it is so recent, was the adaptation of the jinn's story in the American Gods TV show. The love story of Salim and the jinn was the most hopeful part of a larger story that wasn't always so hopeful.

I also loved the nuance of the djinn world in The City of Brass. When I was interviewing Shannon (the author) about the complex nature of the political and cultural divisions in City of Brass, I told her it reminded me of the sociopolitical framework of Deep Space Nine.
