Colleen | 1205 comments I will start with The House Where it Happened then I will go onto Belfast and read three
novels in different time periods.
Name upon Name
The International
The Belfast Girl
Then at the border near Newry
The Lost

Allan Interesting choices, Colleen! I assume you know that 'The Belfast Girl' author is a member of GRI, although she hasn't been active in recent years by the looks of things. I love 'The International' - and you'll be able to check out the group read thread somewhere in the ether. Enjoy!

Yes I know she is a member of GRI .
I've had the The International since it was a group way back when and never got around to reading , now I will :)

Maria Hill AKA MH Books (mariahilldublin) | 601 comments I hope to read books I have had on my shelves for a while in my challenge too. I am sure there are some real gems on there!

Colleen | 1205 comments I may have bitten more off than I realized . It's easy to finf books set in Belfast and Dublin but I have found that the setting is Ireland but where in Ireland who knows... I have found some novels ,none of which I own , that might fit ,,, not worry about Dublin .The Heather Blazing ,Hungry Hill,Falling for a Dancer and Fairfields
any thoughts or suggestions would be wonderful.

Colleen | 1205 comments I think Holding is set in Duneen Cork .

10.Falling for a Dancer
11.Troubles

I hope I like it ,it's the one I most nervous of lol .It's good to now that you really liked it . I didn't know it was the first of a trilogy ,if all goes well with Troubles I will add the other two to the TBR list.

Colleen | 1205 comments I found another novel that fits my challenge it takes place in Wicklow and the author is Irish The Secrets of Roscarbury Hall. I don't know if I will insert this between Unraveling Oliver and Falling for a Dancer or replace one of them .

message 15: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 1205 comments I finished Name upon Name and it was an interesting read but I feel it was YA/ middle school so it was a bit sugar-coated and questions went unanswered but so how it was still a good read. I gave it 4 stars . Next book I will be reading for this challenge is The International

message 16: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 1205 comments I'll let you know !

Hi Colleen, do you like fitting in a short story or two between reads? My first collection contains a story with Arklow much in evidence.

Allan Colleen, Wilkinson is known as a YA author, so I can understand how you might feel that issues might have been sugar coated. Must admit that I have never tried any of her novels.

As for the Patterson, please don't pay any heed to Anne Enright's quote about the book being 'the best book about the Troubles', because it takes place before the conflict even begins...

Colleen | 1205 comments I finished The International and Allan thank you for telling me that its not about the troubles .I went into not knowing what to expect and it was wonderful . The book is really about the last really normal day before The Troubles started . I recommend it .
I will start The Belfast Girl soon.

message 21: by Allan (new)

Allan Glad to read that you enjoyed the book for what it was, as opposed to what Anne Enright deemed it to be on the blurb of the later edition!
