I LOVE Poldark on BBC ONE. Those who have no idea of it can find them at dailymotion.
For those of you who grew up in the 80's, Stranger Things on Netflix is wonderful. You can find the DVD of the series anywhere. (Well, there's no novel version).
For those who love something more sinister, Jekyll (2007) would do the trick!

The Water Margin is the first one comes to my mind. 1998 version of Water Margin is an absolute masterpiece !. The best T.V show (it's more like a drama) I've ever seen. From this link you can download the episodes with English subs

BBC did an amazing adaptation of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. I read the book first but the t.v show was pretty good too !.
I’m tempted to read Big Little Lies and The Handmaid’s Tale after watching their TV adaptations which were amazing but I think I’ll wait for some years to do that so that I don’t keep comparing the two.But I did read Margaret Atwood’s The Blind Assassin after I watched The Handmaid’s Tale which I thought was a great book. Maybe I’ll try Liane Moriaty’s other books.. any recommendation on which ones are good/great/the best?

I found The Handmaid’s Tale to be excruciatingly disturbing. I watched a couple of episodes on Hulu and couldn't take it anymore.
I loved the cinematography though. Every frame was like a Vermeer painting. It's incredible.

I've started watching the Handmaid's Tale and although it sometimes makes me feel physically ill, I continue to watch. As dystopian as this series feels, the reality is that so many of these issues are being debated today in governments all over the world.I've also been watching The Deuce, which is a little bit graphic in terms of nudity but is really interesting. The show describes the launch of the pornography industry in the US.
American Gods is an absolute delight to watch, although it is incredibly difficult to follow the storyline.
Outlander, definitely. I'm still struggling to decide whether I love the book or the TV series more, but the bibliophile in me secretly votes for Diana Gabaldons amazing writing. But on the other hand Starz have done an outstanding adaption of the story and for those who love historical fiction with a twist of Sci-Fi - this is it. Take one look and you will fall head over heels for Scottish Highlands.

LOVE both the series and the book(s).

'Stranger things'. Well you won't find any massive scandals, back stabbers or cheaters in there, but those bunch of kids will take you to the 80's in no time :) .
'Anne with an E' :)Anne of Green Gables is one of my favourites. I read them in my teenage years.
The tv show follows the storyline of the book series, but has some additional twists and turns.
The cast is perfect! I don't know how they did it but Anne and Gilbert look exactly like the way I imagined them.
The sci fi tv series ‘the Expanse’ made me read the books that are just as exciting ... ‘Call the Midwife ‘ is based on a wonderful couple of books. The wonderful series ‘the Jewel in the Crown’ based on Paul Scott’s amazing books is an older example...

I found Handmaid Tale's ending to be full of questions so interesting to see what could of happened afterwards.
Game of Thrones, I read the books before I started watching the TV show but now the show has surpassed the books and George R R Martin keeps writing these prequels to the books that are basically a history book, but I'm guessing there's some relevance to the final book by going through the history.
I was really into True Blood and The Vampire Diaries tv shows (i know i know, its rubbish) and I tried the books and they were just too young for me. The shows were a lot more adult.
I surppose both The Handmaid's Tale and Game of Thrones are good shows, but personally I don't like tv shows with a lot of violence against women, particularly depiction of sexual violence against women. If these are novels/tv shows actually based on history, then it's a different story because then, it's about being historically accurate.
Creating fantasy TV shows with intense violence against women is a choice. I just don't see how they can be entertaining.
