I thought for sure that all the science, math and physics in particular, would be a turn off. Not at all, I didn't try to do the math, just let the story go and marveled at the uses of the science. It gave me a whole new appreciation to the talent it takes to be part of the space program.

In the midst of terror, there was humor. I could barely put this down. Mark Whatney is a great character as were all the those aboard the Hermes and at NASA. I loved Mindy who watched what was happening on Mars through the satellite images and appeared often in the NASA scenes.

I want to get this book for my husband who retired from a company that made the space suits for many of the programs and also worked on the Space Station components, I'll be he'd appreciate all the science! Plus he's one of those people, like Mark, who can take things apart and make new things or put them back together so they work better. One of the things I admire so much.

Great book, so glad I finally got to it and trusted all my PBT friends' ratings!
