Boy did my February reading take a left turn! Finished Equal Rites (Discworld, #3; Witches #1) by Terry Pratchett and After You (Me Before You, #2) by Jojo Moyes as planned. Re-listened to Gilded Cage (Dark Gifts, #1) by Vic James and then listend to Tarnished City (Dark Gifts, #2) by Vic James when it came out; listened to Hunger A Memoir of (My) Body by Roxane Gay and started a charming cozy mystery series, reading Murder in an Irish Village by Carlene O'Connor and Murder at an Irish Wedding (Irish Village Mystery #2) by Carlene O'Connor .
Still need to finish up The Little French Bistro by Nina George and Commonwealth by Ann Patchett . March will be all about Booktopia authors.

C. John wrote: "What exactly is Booktopia?"

Booktopia is a gathering of readers and authors. After Ann Kingman and Michael Kindness started their podcast (Books on the Nightstand) many of us came here to comment about books, the podcast, ask for help finding books, etc. We got to "know" each other, but of course had never met each other. Someone said, "Wouldn't be neat if we could meet!"
So, Ann and Michael arranged for some to meet in Manchester, VT in April, 2011. (They arranged discounts at B&Bs, worked with the fantastic independent bookstore AND got 9 authors to come, too. They did not know what to expect, but about 100 of us accepted the invitation.
Someone who attended (the actual person is not known) dubbed that fantastic weekend "Booktopia."
It was such a hit that Ann and Michael did it again in 2012 in April in Vermont AND added 2 additional venues later in the year. All were called "Booktopia".
Ann and Michael did this until 2015 when they got out of the Booktopia business (after all, they had jobs, families including young children, and wanted some personal time).
Since 2016 the original bookstore, Northshire Bookstore in Manchester, Vermont has picked up the ball and has kept the tradition going the first weekend in May.
This will be the third year they are hosting and this year there are 10 authors.
It's no longer just about the books and the authors because we are friends that now see each other (if we're lucky) once a year.
Here is the line-up of this year's authors:
Steve Yarbrough Presents The Unmade World

Ariel Lawhon Presents I Was Anastasia

Chloe Benjamin Presents The Immortalists

Heather Abel Presents The Optimistic Decade

Pamela Paul Presents My Life With Bob

Peter Swanson novel The Girl With a Clock For a Heart

Eric Rickstad novel, THE NAMES OF DEAD GIRLS—the sequel to THE SILENT GIRLS

Robin Oliveira Presenting Winter Sisters

Stephen McCauley Presenting My Ex-Life

Jonathan Miles presents Anatomy of a Miracle

And here is how to sign up if you're interested:

If you need more information, feel free to send me a private message.

Most of us attending this year's Booktopia are busy trying to read ALL the books prior to May. Many of us don't get it all done, but we try.

Also, people who have been to a Booktopia and for whatever reason can not attend (i.e. child is graduating from college that weekend) do question which is the higher priority.
