Mrs Mellark (mrsdawson) | 8 comments Did you read the divergent series? If yes, what was your opinion of the ending in Allegiant? It would be interesting to see everybody's different opinion about it.

Brieanna (bookswithbrie_) | 2 comments It’s been a while since I read it and I haven’t re-read it but I remember feeling so ripped off and annoyed at the time. But now I can see why it was ended that way.

Mrs Mellark (mrsdawson) | 8 comments Yeah I remember when I finished it I cried so hard and even though I understand now that it had to end like that I still don't like it at all. The most horrible thing about the ending is Tobias' pain.

Teri | 1 comments I remember wanting to throw the book through the window but then remembered I was reading it on my Nook. I truly believe this was one of the worst endings I've ever read, and vowed to never read another book by Veronica Roth. I don't see why Tris had to die. Anyone feel like explaining it to me?

Well, I think that it's horrible that Tris died and I think that Veronica Roth is cruel for doing that. But I also feel like it was the perfect ending. So you see, Tris is very selfless but in the meantime she thinks she is too selfish. She is not sure what she truly is and what she truly wants. She wants to die, she thinks she should sacrifice herself but she doesn't understand what is a sacrifice. She thinks a sacrifice is just to die for nothing but at the end she realizes what is a real sacrifice, and for the first time she is sure that she is doing the right thing. She understands that sacrificing herself for her brother Caleb is the most selfless and brave thing she could do.
It's a bit hard to explain, but I hope that now you understand why Tris died.

Robin (rretzler) | 1 comments I agree with all the previous comments. Although I did enjoy the series, the ending of Allegiant somewhat ruined the series for me. I can understand why Veronica Roth would write it that way, but I think she also could likely have found a different way to end it with Tris living.

I have to wonder if Tris' death is one of the reasons that many people don't like the Divergent series as much as they do The Hunger Games trilogy?

I think what also makes it heart-breaking for me is that as I sat reflecting about the book right after finishing it (several years ago), we received a phone call from my brother-in-law that my husband's mother had just passed away unexpectedly. So the series will forever be entwined in my mind with a tragic personal event as well.

A.J. Eversley | 5 comments Like most of you, I have mixed feelings about the ending. I did think about that book and that series for a REALLY long time, which made me think it was a smart ending in the sense it was memorable.

One funny thing I've noticed is that many people were mad Tris died, but then when the movies deviated from that ending people were ALSO upset she didn't die (among other things in the movies) lol.

I think this is one of the only series I have read that the main character dies...and I do wish for more of a happy ending for Tobias as I didn't feel that entirely. But overall, I still loved the series!

Treeza | 4 comments Only read the first one, after a couple chapters of book 2 I decided it was no longer my thing, just didn't seem as good as the first!

message 9: by Lyne (new)

Lyne | 1 comments I liked the serie but disliked the ending. Tobias' pain is so hearthbreaking. I prefer when book ends well, with hope for the future. I like when thinking back about a book that those thoughts bring me happiness, pleasure. Not sadness and emptiness. I don't want to read anything from that author again.

Melissa Hamm (melissahamm) | 3 comments My option is a unpopular one I loved Alligent. The ending left me heart broke and crying. Uriah had his problems but he was still a good kid for the most part. Plus Tris I mean she died a hero but I feel horrible for the group and Tobias.

Currently reading Four because I wasn't ready to leave the characters I grew so close to so many of them. <3
#DauntlessandDivergent (aka I am that combo too)

A_ bookbound _soul (a_bookbound_soul) I too have mixed feelings... I wouldn't say I loved the ending but I don't hate it either . I was heart broken and upset mostly for Four. Uriah could have been spared from death too. I would have liked to see Christina and Uriah together instead (spoiler alert for those who haven't yet read We Can be Mended) Of Christina and Tobias. They were better off being best friends. The ending of Allegiant in a way was quite memorable . It took me almost a day to get over her death. She was my favourite dystopian female character . Even today after so many years I sometimes keep thinking about it for long time.

Jessaca Willis (nerdy4books_jessaca) I actually liked the terrible ending lol I think because Tris irritated me so I was kind of glad with how her storyline ended... that’s pretty terrible of me now that I think of it!

SeaStar | 2 comments Honestly, I was annoyed at the book after the end.

message 14: by Rach (new)

Rach I hated this ending, was very let down and frustrated.

pheebster | 2 comments I don't think there are a lot of books where the main characters dies, and usually, death in books don't upset me as much. But this one...I was very disappointed and what made me the most upset is what Tobias had to endure. Poor guy...

Canette Arille (canettearillebooks) No, I don't like the ending because Four is my favorite character, and I don't like it when he suffers

message 17: by Maddy (new)
