I just got my copy from the library. Can't wait to start this!

Me either! I might be starting this a bit late. I'm behind on my other Buddy reads :( I'm going to try to catch up today though.

That doesn't make me feel as bad. I've been doing good so far this year and then I slacked off the last few weeks >_<

How are you doing on your Buddy Reads? I'm caught up on one and have one more left. But I could read two at the same time if you want. Just let me know. I would try to read about 5 chapters every few days until I'm done with the other or something. haha

Yes, I actually just started this yesterday and read the first 5 chapters! I was just about to come write here. Your plan sounds good to me because then I have time to read my other books, too. I'm in the middle of one buddy read and then I have one book I borrowed from a friend that I'm trying to read as well ☺

Here are some thougts on the first five chapters.
(view spoiler)[ The story seems interesting so far. I mean it is obviously a re-telling but it's also different from the original story. I like Yeva as a character but I don't quite understand her reluctance to marry Solmir. I see there are reasons that the situation is not ideal but Solmir seems like a good guy.

What I find especially interesting is the beast. I'd like to know more about him and the curse he's under (if he is under one in this story). I'd also like to know why his chapters are written in plural...like there would be many of him/them. That makes me very curious. (hide spoiler)]

I've started this and am liking it so far. I'm not to chapter 5 but I wanted you to know that I am working on it.

It's too bad (view spoiler)[ Yeva removed the blindfold. I have a feeling she could have learned to like the beast if she would have taken her time. Of course, she thought the beast was helping her, which wasn't the case. (hide spoiler)]

I wonder what the beast (view spoiler)[ wants Yeva to hunt. My guess is the fire bird. I think it has something to do with the curse and I also think the beast might have something to do with the story of Ivan and the fire bird that Yeva told him. (hide spoiler)]

Do you think (view spoiler)[ Yeva's father is still alive? If he's dead I think someone or something else killed him...not the beast. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 6 thoughts. (view spoiler)[I knew it was a retelling but so far I'm wondering what's missing haha. I'm guessing not wanting to marry Solmir is because the beast is her true love? And Solmir is like that guy Bell doesn't like in the movie? I'm not really sure.

I agree with your thoughts about the Beast too. I"m wondering if it's because of the other people? Like isn't the beast suppose to be a prince or something? (hide spoiler)]

Yes, I also thought (view spoiler)[ Solmir represents Gaston who wants to marry Belle in the original story. Only Solmir seems like a good guy and Gaston not so much. I'm still kind of waiting to see the other people. Like there haven't been any living furniture or such yet. (hide spoiler)]

Exactly! Ch. 8 (view spoiler)[Where is the living furniture? Yes, Gaston that's the name I couldn't think of. Why is she having to shoot arrows? What does that have to do with the curse? In the movie it was fall in love and get a kiss. That can't be what he is looking for here. (hide spoiler)]

Back to reading. I will comment when I make it to chapter 10!

I'm hoping to put a dent into this book over the next few days because I'm officially on summer break!

Chapter 15.

It seems that (view spoiler)[Yeva is starting to warm up to the beast. It's kind of annoying how stubbornly she keeps trying to hate him. Of course, the beast is also encouraging her hate. I think he didn't kill her father but lets her think so that she would stay in the castle in hopes for revenge.

I wonder who is the "her" the beast wants Yeva to hunt. Maybe it's not the firebird after all. The enchanted forest is interesting. Maybe the creatures there are the other people that in the original story were turned into furniture. (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 15

I can't decide(view spoiler)[if the beast killed her dad or not. Or maybe the beast did but not the human in him? I can't make up my mind on that. I also wonder who it is that she has to kill. Or do you think in the long run he wants her to stay because he need her to fall in love with him? (hide spoiler)]

Obviously, Beauty is in love with the Beast. I'm hoping we get to see the castle is all it's glory after the curse breaks haha. (hide spoiler)]

This book(view spoiler)[spoke to me at the end. Partly because I know people like these characters and try really hard to be happy where I am. Although, lately I've been feeling a bit adventurous? Maybe that's the word I'm looking for. Anyways, I really enjoyed it for never having read a Beauty and the Best retelling. I wish we got to see a little more of what happened after though. I want to know what all happened to her sisters and things like that. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ The firebird was the goal after all, only it really wasn't which was a nice twist. I also liked that the ending wasn't a traditional "they lived happily ever after" type of ending. They did end up happy but they didn't settle in a palace or anything like that. However, I do agree with you that it would have been nice to know more about what happened.

I also know people like these characters..myself included..kind of 😀 Always living in the future and looking for the next travel destination. This was a nice story and it offered a refreshing view on the original story. Not exactly a Disney version either ☺ I'm glad you liked it, too. (hide spoiler)]
