I learned to show the readers a more realistic view of the story as Sparks did through Katie's (main character) eyes. By having Katie's point of view in the story shares the reader all the reactions and gives a good insight to all sorts of details within the story. Another thing I learned from Sparks is how to make big conflicts seem more important and more dramatic than others. In the story you can tell which conflicts are more important by which characters are involved. The third thing I learned to do was add in literary techniques because it really adds to the theme and style of the story. Sparks added similes, metaphors, and a lot of personification to complete his story and by using those it really tied it all together.
