Fantasy Book Club Series discussion

This thread is a spoiler-free threa for our first sojourn into Canavan's Black Magician World.

What do you think so far?

I've had this one on my to-read list for awhile. I will be starting it later this month.

I'm about 100 pages into it. OK so far, hoping it improves.

I've read all three books, and I loved them. I won't post any spoilers, but I will say that the last book made me cry.

Read them and the prequel a few years ago.

Read all the books in this series over the years and enjoyed them. I remember liking Sonea and Cery from the beginning!

What is her other series like, I forget it's name but I do have a copy of one part in it.

She has two other series: Age of the Five, a completed trilogy, and Millennium's Rule, a series with the first book just published. I felt Age of Five was simpler than Black Magician and was a little too obvious, whereas her newest book, Thief's Magic, had a lot of potential. The Traitor Spy trilogy is a sequel to Black Magician and better than the original, IMO.

Im just about to start this book, I have a few nights off work so im going to get started on it while im off. I cant wait

I'm a little behind with this read along since I just got the series through a book exchange, and also just discovered this group... I am only 40 pages into The Magician's Guild, but so far I think I'm going to enjoy it!
