Have you had those moments when you look at your writing and absolutely think it's not good. Then you come back to it later and then you think, actually it's not that bad. You like your writing one second and then you hate it the next. I think most of you will know what I am talking about. I call it going through the motions.

I think every writer goes through this while they are writing. And I am going to say even further that every artist or person that creates goes through this. I assure you it is completely normal. It is completely natural.

Sometimes us writers, we have a tendency to be overcritical of our work. We have this ultimate image and goal in our minds that we are trying to get to. We are also comparing our books to other books and comparing ourselves to other authors. And if we feel like we are not matching up then we just want to chuck the whole book out. We are very emotional people I tell you.

It is one thing to critique your work and that being a positive thing and that helping you to improve your writing and the productivity of your work. Then it is another thing to be just completely negative about your work and you having low- self esteem about your work and that stopping you from completing your work. And I understand some of us are not that confident in our writing. I can raise my hand to that one. But we have to try to see good in our writing. We have to train our eyes.

Because we are continuously writing, brainstorming, reading, revising, re-reading, brainstorming again, re-writing. re-reading we simply get tired. And when we get tired, we get frustrated and that blurs they way we see our work.

If this fluctuation of emotion is happening take a step back from your work for a moment. You can decide to work on a different chapter or a different part of the book or even another book that you are working on, for just a moment. Or you can go find inspiration that is fun and relaxing for you but also helpful in your writing. Usually when you take a step back for moment and then come back, (I repeat come back) then we can see more clearly and everything seems more fresher and even new.

If stepping back for a moment is not your cup of tea that is okay. Find what works for you. Do what what is best for you. But alI in all you should focus on the positives of your work. Make a deliberate action to see the good in your writing. You can even make a list of all the different things you like about your work and your writing. Build on that and let that push you towards improving your work and completing your work.

I want to encourage you, that you can do it, you are capable. Just keep pushing forward and you will get there.

If you have any suggestions for getting through fluctuating emotions about your writing, leave a comment bellow. Also if you any suggestions about any other topic that you would like to talk about leave a comment bellow.

Hope you all have a wonderful and awesome day.
